Don’t forget that they sent the guy who had only seen snow for the first time earlier that week, who had never been north of the wall, and who had spent almost his entire life living in Kings Landing as a blacksmiths apprentice so would have no reason to know any outdoors skills.
The biggest mystery isn’t the timings, it’s how he actually got back to the Wall in the first place without getting horrifically lost and dying of hypothermia or starvation somewhere in a distant snowbank

Doesn’t make any sense for it to be illegal to ride a bike without a helmet, but you can jump on one of these and crack on with no safety equipment.
They definitely have a place as a convenient way to get from A-B in a city like ours with narrow streets, but I don’t think letting them loose without a second thought is the best idea.

I had no idea the rate reduces as you earn more - that’s insane. Thanks for the explanation.

What is it that makes NI regressive? Is it worse than (for example) income tax?

If you like the original then it’s fun, I also bought it at half price and am glad to have the game in a format that works reliably on my laptop.
The UI is really horrible though, very hard to get used to.
I’m hoping some mods will come out soon, they’ve removed the cap on settlements and factions so fingers crossed someone is working on creating an awesome overhaul.

I think they’re referring to the mechanic in medieval 2 in which a priest/imam can become a heretic. Having that many so close together means it’s likely to happen.

I was with you until you said Medieval 2 hasn’t held up - I will have to fight you over that.
Seriously though, completely agree with your post. Troy is based on the Trojan war and while that is rooted in history, the only things we know about it are from the Iliad so it’s definitely legend to say the least. If their intention was to make a ‘Bronze Age total war’, there’s plenty they could have done without including Agamemnon, Achilles et al.

Couldn’t agree more, I really don’t know why people give season 6 a pass. Battle of the bastards was no different than season 8 in that it was pretty but nonsense

That’s got nothing to do with not working in IT. I work in HR, and we use a system similar to the ticket system and always funnel people back through it whenever they come to us directly. In our case, it’s so we can ensure an equal allocation of work.
There’s literally no reason for her to submit a ticket when she gets the exact same result by not doing it.

What is ‘ethnic studies’? It sounds like something that would have been taught at Eton in the 1850s to prepare young men for service in the empire.

The comments on the original post in pics show how little people know about Afghanistan.
Top comment is someone worrying that these people’s faces are being shown, so the Taliban might get them. Someone else pointing out that they might use facial recognition software to identify them. Hardly anyone pointing out that the Taliban are more likely to identify them as resistance fighters by the fact they’re engaging in armed resistance.

At a guess, because hockey is pretty popular here. It’s definitely not as big as football, rugby, cricket, or tennis, but as team sports go it can’t be far behind. It’s played a lot at school level, and hockey clubs are popular at university (not just for the drinking)

Doesn’t the data show that we win more medals per million spent in the paralympics than we do in the olympics? The ‘cost per medal’ is far higher for the Olympics.

I was in Kenya nearly 10 years ago while the Thika superhighway (large infrastructure project) was under construction with Chinese finance. Even just driving past it was obvious that the labourers were all locals but anyone holding a clipboard, or otherwise clearly in a management position, was Chinese.

Sterling is quite possibly my favourite player that has no connection to Pompey. The way he boils racists’ piss just by being himself, without giving a single fuck, is just glorious.

I like this sub, but it’s really shit for UK politics. The only takes that get upvoted are:
- Boris actually neoliberal and really good
- Labour unelectable Corbyn is probably still leader lol idk
- Lib Dem nimby 😡
Completely ignoring any nuance, and also applying all sorts of American issues and perspectives that aren’t really that relevant.
The “Lib Dem nimby” point is particularly grating. It is a point of contention within the party and many members (particularly younger ones) are concerned that we are straying too close the nimbyism. But the facts are that Lib Dem councils build houses, and our opposition to the Tories’ planning bill is that it’s ill-thought out and is more designed (by intent or not) to make developers lots of money rather than to actually tackle the housing crisis. Like many of Johnson’s policies, it’s a slogan that sounds great but has very little in the way of substance.
But it’s all this sub cares about, to the extent of completely ignoring everything else about the party.
