Did people directly threaten him? I got the assumption they just assessed the situation as too high risk given how angry the crowd was and level of cursing.

COMMENT 8h ago
I think he is. Did you see his reaction/commentary after they relocated? Guy looked like he was holding back tears. Said he's seen protests and hate towards him when he was with his dad visiting the west. Said he's seen it in his previous campaigns. But never to the extent and level of animosity he saw today.

Yep. Of the people that talked shit at him in Surrey one of them was calling him a communist.

Everyone's goal is also to acquire more power to retain or form government.

Therefore the right doesn't exist as it can be overridden by any law parliament passes
So just like the Charter of Rights? (given the notwithstanding clause). Only difference is withstanding clause expires after 5 years if not renewed.
1
COMMENT 8h ago
Not exactly. It can be ammended like any other law. But the law it's self is quasi-constituional. As such it overrides all federal laws unless explicitly declared otherwise.

COMMENT 8h ago
Yeah, that's the problem.

And half the things he thought were best for the country were in fact horrible for us as a country...
He guy didn't exactly have the greatest track record of supporting constitutional rights.

So the rest of us just deserve to be shot in a home invasion?

He knows it's just a political theater he's playing to make people feel safe and arbitrarily banning 9 guns doesn't accomplish anything other than bullying gun owners.

And so many of these don't trust the cops, want to defund them and yet they think the police are the only ones that should be armed.

Increased spending is part of the Cons platform. If there's any time we need it, well it's now.

NDP/Liberal coalition
Unlikely and seems Jagmeet might actually be willing to work with the Tories this time around.
1
COMMENT 9h ago
I think the NDP is going to under deliver and it will cost Jagmeet his leadership position.
Doubt it. No one expects them to win the election. But they're poised to make seat gains. If they gain seats then Jagmeet will have succeeded at his job.

COMMENT 9h ago
Unlikely. Bloc is still a threat to them and if any decline in Bloc support is in rural Québec city region it could actually mean giving way to Conservative seats.
1
COMMENT 9h ago
The interesting part is NDP support is pretty stable.
This looks like it's all Liberal voters flocking away to the CPC rather than splitting up their votes.
1
COMMENT 9h ago
Well not necessarily. Government could of collapsed at any moment with the say of NDP.
He had up to two years left.
Having said that given pandemic he probably would of easily secured an other year before a motion of non confidence.

COMMENT 9h ago
Well what else was he going to do. Openly admit he's breaking the law?

Bells a lot cheaper in Manitoba than elsewhere. Just saying. Ontario having highest telecom prices in the country is partly lack of competition.
Saying that prices must be the same across all provinces would litterally be a much more reasonable regulation than telling them what they must charge based on rates in foreign countries.

In a free and democratic society needing something should never be the a basis for whether or not it is legal.
In case you didn't notice. No body has ever been shot with a legally acquired AR-15 in Canadian history. It was banned because of poltical posturing over what happened in the US. It is not a ban of reason nor logic (esspecially since AR-15 isn't a very powerful gun and most gun owners own something more lethal).
If the government gangs up on innocent people with the intention of taking their property. Then you should be scared because you're next. And that's putting aside how 200,000 innocent Canadians are being punished and criminalized for the actions of criminals. It's a moral obligation of us to uphold the freedoms and liberties of our neighbours and not to dismiss unjust persecution because it doesn't effect us directly.
Trudeau banned the Mini 14 because of an event that happened 30 years ago. This is the was the most popular coyote hunting rifle in the country. He called it a weapon of war meant for killing the most people in the shortest amount of time.
Trudeau banned antique collectibles like 600 Nitro express rifles. These are worth about a quarter million dollars. Now they can't be sold. Is it right for government to render the value of your investment null for political posturing?
Police in the Yukon recently acquired AR-10 rifles for protection against grizzly bears. Prior to Trudeau's gun ban civilians could also buy a Stag 10 or a M14/M1A for bear defense. Now there are no affordable high power semi auto rifles available to civilians. Why do you support Yukoners being mauled to death because of people in Toronto that don't understand our gun laws and like banning things 3500 km away for false sense of security?

Better question is. What business does the government have regulating the contents of our social media feeds?
I say none.

Rest of NATO pulled out too. It's only US now. Though a few Canadian troops remain to assist the Americans. All flights are American.
You can't pull everyone out on the last day. So they need to gradually scale down their presence. As part of this exit plan allies leave before the US and US is last to départ.
But indeed. We should probably have some flights of our own until the end even as we withdraw the number of troops we have.
