That site is amazing, thanks. Definitely bookmarking for the future. Looks like they have an app too.

I'm not sure that almost half of all Americans want trump back, or are even pro trump in general. The voting population isn't the same as the population at large. Id say it's closer to a third.

Totally agree. Edited my comment yet again to be a little more clear. It's been a long day.

My thoughts too, where does this information about what was said during their conversation come from? Jim Jordan? The article was no help.

Edit: damnit I'm an idiot. The article does say:

per a source with knowledge of that call. The source declined to say how Trump responded to this request.

Not sure how I completely missed that..but it's still dubious though. The source could be one of their aids or something, who would obviously try to paint them in a virtuous light.

Is the tetanus shot intramuscular? I honestly don't know if I've ever had it...I must have when I was younger, but it's definitely time to boost it!

Excellent point, just more shameless hypocrisy and politicization from the nation's police departments.

When it comes to public health and safety, absolutely.

Sure, their population deserves the representation.

And it's becoming more urgent than ever with the climate data coming out. I'm 100% done with their regressive nonsense, they are now openly endangering our future and blocking any chance at progress. Theyve whipped a third of the country into a fervor and have stoked irreparable division based on lies, and have threatened democracy itself with their shamelessly unconstitutional voting bills. Something's gotta give, I just hope more people than ever are inspired to vote. There are more of us than them.

But then the cruise lines will put pressure on the governor, which is what we want since Disney has a ton of influence in Florida politics and he wouldn't be able to ignore them. It's possible for the boycott to make it be known exactly why they're boycotting a thing and I think they'd have to in this case to be most effective, so that the cruisline doesn't think people are boycotting because they're mandating the vaccine.

I like it, people should bombard Disney's Twitter saying that they'd love to come, but due to gov desantis's inaction they will not risk it.

The GOP also could not give less of a fuck about public schools and public education in general.

Blue states actually did do, and are doing, much better than most red states - and certainly Florida.

COMMENT 1d ago

Thank you, I'm sure they're triggered by me saying that it seems like it could possibly be a bigger threat. Or that I dare mention it at all, which is nuts since a good chunk of the article is devoted to it. Oh well!

True haha, maybe the desert then? Probably no ecosystem is safe.

I know, and that would be a type of relief. That was the main outcome trump was seeking.

Sounds like another (and possibly bigger) threat are domestic terrorists who don't like the idea of Afghans coming into the country:

"In our analysis of online platforms commonly used by anti-government white supremacist and other domestic violent extremist organizations and groups, we are seeing several narrative trends emerge having to do with concerns [about] the relocation of Afghans to the United States," Cohen said. "In it is an element of the great replacement concept, or a concept that would lead to a loss of control and authority by the white race, and there are concerns that those narratives may incite violent activities directed at immigrant communities, certain faith communities or even those who are relocated to the United States."

Cohen also explained on the call that some extremists see what the Taliban did as a "success."

"In those narrative streams, there have been commentary focusing on potential acts of violence directed at U.S. government, law enforcement and others who are considered to be symbols of the current government structure," Cohen explained.

Because it is. A person bringing up an actual fact regarding race isn't them "making it about race". And your other comment down there is the most insultingly ignorant thing I've heard in a while. You really are the last person who should be telling anyone to "have some awareness" in this situation. Jesus.

How have you not figured out yet that guidance changes as data changes, and it sometimes changes fast. It's been 100 years since something like this has happened. This is how science and learning and processing data works. The "fauci lied" people who are upset because guidance and advice changes are ridiculous. Also, vaccinated people absolutely have reason to be concerned about the unvaccinated. The virus spreads much faster among unvaccinated people than in vaccinated people, creating a bigger risk for dangerous mutations. Also, the vast majority (98%+ in most places) of hospitalizations are unvaxed people, literally collapsing our hospital systems in several states. So yeah, we care that people are deciding to be willfully ignorant and about the risk and damage that it's causing.

Same here in Mass, and it's been like that the entire pandemic. The kids are absolutely unbothered by wearing masks and have been better than adults about it since the beginning.

COMMENT 2d ago

And unfortunately these antivaxers are directly hurting their children with their selfishness and obsession with politicization. It's their children who end up addled with guilt when these people are hospitalized and/or die. They think that it's their fault, that they brought the virus home and caused their deaths. There are hospital horror stories of children crying and apologizing to their parents who are ventilated and on their deathbeds.

It's disgusting and tragic, and again, incredibly selfish. And all because grown adults can't figure out what's real and what's not, when they have all the answers in their pocket. And now we are left fighting for their kid's safety in schools. I have zero patience or sympathy for these parents.

That's terrible. Thanks for sharing this story though, maybe it'll open someone's eyes to the severity of the situation. People will be dying of perfectly treatable ailments because of this.

https://ktla.com/news/nationworld/states-see-record-covid-hospitalizations-as-delta-strain-affects-more-kids/

And it depends on what you mean by "affect". Hospitalizations in children are increasing, but so are hospitalizations for everyone. The delta variant is simply more infectious. We don't have data showing that kids are necessarily getting sicker with delta than with other variants - they still make up a relatively small percentage of those hospitalized, but that doesn't change the fact that more children are being hospitalized in general, along with everyone else, and that's clearly a problem.
