My dad jumped out of a perfectly good airplane on D-Day. Later he trained Green Berets. He and a group of Greatest Generation vets used to meet for coffee and a walk around Disneyland three days a week.

We held his memorial at Disneyland. We ate churros and released Mickey Mouse balloons to say goodby to our total badass dad.

I am the direct descendant of colonial farmers. Most of them lived to be very old. One patriarch, who fought in the Revolutionary War, lived to be 111 and had 24 children.
