University resources and connections should be something to consider. Yes, they could graduate in 2 years and do projects on their own, or they can spend that time in a college setting doin gorojects with professors that likely have connections they could use to help you get a better first job.

As a club president, I might be a bit biased, but I really do encourage you to try going to some clubs and committing yourself to something on campus. The best way to make new friends at any point is just getting involved with something. My sophomore year, half the few friends I made as a freshman were studying abroad, and the others otherwise busy. I joined a club and within a month I had a whole new friend group of people to spend time with and eat with. Most colleges have a rather extensive set of clubs to cover a lot of various interests.

You think that he wouldn't have the ability to communicate and coordinate with other people working on the movie? That he composed everything in a vacuum? It is something that could be easily coordinated with other people working on the movie.

The choice made by Williams wasn't the alarm, it was making the music work with the alarm so that the two different sounds blended well together.

Just because there isn't a pandemic doesn't mean I can't keep wearing a mask, and that's what I plan to do in winter. I have too many decent masks just to throw them away once this is all over.

Nah they would. I mean, look at the story for BW or even SM. Sure, SM kinda just sucked, but both sets of games had a decently solid story. That being said, I feel like it's more of a dice roll if we get a good story or not.

It's not poor graphics, you just don't like the art style. We got a 3D interpretatoin of the chibi art style of the 2D era. If that's your sole reason for not buying the game, all the more power to you, however, many will find that to be a silly reason.

Technically, no, there isn't. But if she continues offering wages below the higher minimum wage for large employers, she's going to continue to struggle to fill those jobs as people can just go to the larger employers to work the same job for more.

Building a notable resume already at age 14 is very impressive. Wish I could tell potential employers I had such an accomplishment. Then I'd at least have something on my resume.

For clarification, this isn't meaning necessarily memorized, but rather they just need the spell description in front of them when they decide to cast it? Because if so, that's a great rule imo, as it saves DM time and it's pretty easy to have proper resources, especially with apps like 5e spellbook. I've always assumed that that's how everyone played as it keeps you informed about what you're doing as a player.

I saw this elsewhere and I think it's good to repeat here. The inviter should pay for the first date. The invited should offer to pay. It's an exercise it demonstrating social responsibility but also a willingness to be a part of a relationship that both people put effort into.

A lot of people would, but there would definitely still be an upset vocal group complaining about dexit. It's nearly impossible to satisfy the entire Pokemon community.

At my school, we have a directory system for those with a university email. It's actually quite helpful when someone knows you have to email someone but doesn't know what their email is, but it does lend itself to easy abuse.

Again, its solely because we are speaking English and how the English speaking sphere of the world sees the continent system. There's always more to language than just the words and grammar. The English speaking world is the only group (some exceptions) that uses the 7 continent system, and thus, English has the demonyms of North American and South American to describe the people from the two continents. The use of American to refer from anyone from the Americas (America as some see it) is functionally technically correct, however it sees no real use as it carries little value in that context because of how the English speaking countries view the continents.

All in all, it's less "real Americans" dictating an entire language and it's use, but rather a conformation to the way the English world as a whole has viewed the world. That's why, if an English speaker is learning Spanish for example, the word "Americano/a" will come with a note that there are two contexts to the word, one being from the continent and the other from the country and that "estadounidense" is also used to refer to US citizens.

As for your US of Earth example, it'd likely be that people would use Earthian for the country and Earthling for the Earth. It'd also have to deal with what language they speak initially and what they choose to call themselves.

COMMENT Jul 28 '21

I just wanted to point out that's where they are getting America from. There's a lot of discourse here that's just ignoring that fact which is making things spicier than they need to be. But yes, the main issue is the geopolitical divisions and just how the English sphere approaches things as that's why we are ending up with American for the US.

1

COMMENT Jul 28 '21

And so, in countries where the convention is to group Asia and Europe or the Americas, then it would make sense that people say we have six continents. What's your point?

2

COMMENT Jul 28 '21

I'm calling your reason stupid because it's unsubstantiated. And this has nothing to do with politics, it how the English language has worked to come up with things based on their views of the continents. You're making an incorrect assumption about a large majority of people and rejecting anything else. I explained where American comes from as demonym with an example of Mexico/Mexican being a similar issue and you ignore that, so yes, your reason is stupid because you reject any other explanation and instead make an insultingly incorrect assumption about the billion people that speak English and call Americans Americans.

COMMENT Jul 28 '21

The 7 continent thing is nothing new, and your "common sense" doesn't hold up in a majority of the world, if not disagreeing on 6 or 7, disagreeing on what is combined and what isn't. The Wikipedia article is very interesting on that topic.

COMMENT Jul 28 '21

As an American, look at the Wikipedia article for more than a second. The graphic changes to show different continental models. You're being confidently incorrect here.

COMMENT Jul 28 '21

U.S people calling themselves americans as they were the owners of our continent. :)

If anyone thinks this, it's an absolute minority. People from the US are called Americans because the United States of America lends itself to it similarly how the Estado Unidos Mexicanos (United States of Mexico) has it's people labeled Mexicans in English. You take the location of the country in the country name and that's where the demonym comes from. It has nothing to do with the Americans thinking they own the entirety of two continents.

Furthermore, the English world uses a 7 continent model, making it so American can only refer to being from the USA, the demonyms otherwise being North American and South American. This isn't you having an opinion, you're just using a stupid reason to ignore the rules English abides by.
