Any 2nd generation american born from immigrant parents usually grows up learning english and the native language from their parents- only the americans who have ancestors who lived in america for multiple generations would only know english because they are so integrated into american society. Unless you are 100% of english descent, if you go back in time, your ancestors who moved here were probably different ethnicities like german and they spoke german when they came to america and taught their kids german along with english.

If you saw on youtube, there was this viral video of a polar bear "hugging" alaskan dogs tied to a chain. People made all sorts of jokes in the comments like saying the polar bear is "hugging" the dog to become friends with. Just because an animal hugs another animal doesn't mean that it is expressing affection and kindness the same way some humans do. In fact, "hugging" is a cultural construct and not all people in the world "hug" others when greeting. Later on after the video was filmed, the polar bear that "hugged" the dogs came back to kill and eat the dogs. The lesson to learn here is that you really do not know what the polar bear or any wild animal is thinking and it would be stupid for you to attribute human traits or "anthropomorphise" animals. People who think they can tame wild animals or believe that you can develop some emotional bond, are quite frankly idiots, and really do not know what these animals are thinking. People have died trying to stay with a pack of animals thinking that they're part of familial unit. Timothy Treadwell. It's all fun and games until you realize the polar bear is not hugging you because it wants to be friends but it's hugging you like a watermelon to determine if you're ripe.

I theorize that there are lg oled shills who are paid to say "lg oleds best hands down, no argument" in the comments. Ever notice how they comment that the lg c1 is good when people ask for tv recommendations but they never participate in other discussions in this sub? but the most plausible explanation is that these users who promote lg c1 are simply misinformed and dont do a lot of research about tvs. They see lg c1 ranked as the best tv on rtings.com ,they see lots of youtube videos aggressively promoting OLED, and they upgraded from their old crappy led tv so it makes them believe that any LED tv is inferior to OLED

I think other ways would be to offer free test prep classes, free practice tests, etc.

They have the DREAM program that provides shsat tutoring opened exclusively for low socioeconomic students. The previous education chancellor before carranza also stated that very few black and latino students showed up to these tutoring sessions. As you said as well, very few latino and black students even bother taking the SHSAT. Imo, I think the hard truth to swallow is that black and latino families as a whole, simply do not utilize these educational resources as much as other ethnic and racial groups, not so much that black and latino families face many barriers.

netflix 4k hdr is not great. Streaming bit rate for 4k hdr content is capped around 16 mbps compared to other streaming services like youtube that can go many times higher. As a result, this leads to the video being heavily compressed and having a lot of visible artifacts. You'll need around at least 45-65 mbps of maximum bit rate if you want great 4k hdr quality closer to blu ray quality. Additionally if your wifi connection is very bad and suddenly drops below the recommended bit rate for 4k hdr, the scene will reduce in quality.

I predict NYU will continue to enforce harsh covid restrictions and covid will not go away for another year or 2. Just like that, $200k+ in tuition and fees gone and I will never be able to have the true college experience.

start at khan academy from the basics where you feel less comfortable. then when you are comfortable with the basics, move to the more advanced topics. This is how I caught up and was able to master calculus ab in one month and proceed to get a 5 on the ap exam before I attended the class. Anyone who can understands this basic concept will be able to succeed in math or engineering.

A normal person does not often look directly at the sun, but even during a sunny day, the suns powerful ray shining on reflective surfaces like a door handle, concrete and sand can have tens or even hundreds of thousand nits which proves the point that your qled/oled tv is not as bright as you make it out to be. Even though high brightness may be painful for some viewers, brightness is very important to HDR and making scenes look realistic. If your eyes hurt and you do need to wear sunglasses as if you are looking at the scene in real life, what did you expect, that the tv should be at a lower brightness and not display the scene realistically?

When I first viewed the qn90a in a pitch dark room, I wanted to experience the retina burning pain some users were experiencing which I didn't feel so I checked the settings and realized the brightness was already at max- I would not mind if the tv was several times brighter. I have brown eyes almost indistinguishable as black and I can sleep with the lights on and never felt the need of wearing sunglasses when going out. It's unfortunate that people with lighter colored eyes find it difficult to watch tvs with +1000 nits brightness but they are a minority so the tv market won't cater to them.

Rtings is in a controlled setting because the tvs you see in person at a store can have adjusted brightness and contrast that alter the image quality. You aren't accounting for the fact that the tvs may not be in the best picture settings when you are seeing them side to side in a store.

If you don't like that for some strange reason, just turn down the backlight.

My theory is that people who complain about the qn90a being too bright don't realize they have very sensitive eyes. The qn90a only peaks at about 1600-1800 nits compared to the sun which is 1.6 billions nits. HDTV made a video addressing why qled/oled tvs aren't too bright- He measured the brightness of random objects in his backyard in a non sunny day and he literally measured a bush having 1300 nits of brightness. If you find the qn90a too bright that means you probably find the sun too painfully bright when you go out. If the qn90a is it is too bright, you either have eye problems or you have very light colored eyes which makes you more sensitive to bright light. According to AccentVisionCare, "In fact, the top layer of a blue iris doesn't contain any pigment at all. This lack of pigment is the reason that blue-eyed people may be more sensitive to bright light and have a greater need to wear sunglasses than their brown-eyed counterparts...Lighter colored eyes like blue, hazel and green have less of a pigment called 'melanin' than brown eyes do. Melanin helps protect the retina from UV damage and blue light, putting those with blue eyes at a higher risk of developing UV-related eye damage." 55-79% of the population has brown eyes so if modern led tvs are too bright, you're a minority.

This is misleading advice. On rtings, the qn90a is the best overall led tv and rated higher than the qn85a.It also doesn't make sense that you say the qn90a has better viewing angles than the qn85a. The qn85a has an ips panel which has inherently better viewing angles than a TN or VA displays especially shown in the rtings comparison.

Why you shouldn't buy the 2021 Samsung Q80A or QN85A

Having Carranza and Porter as our education chancellor is a result of voting for Deblasio to be our mayor, officials who mainly care about identity politics and not actually improving the education system for every child regardless of his racial or ethnic background. If you really cared about making the education system better, make sure to vote for a mayor who doesn't put fixing education system at the bottom of the list. If you don't care, you should because the DOE has the highest annual budget for a city agency, more than the next 4-5 agencies including the NYPD combined. It's a shame how much money we spend on the education system when other developed nations with far less education funding have better educational outcomes. For instance, nyc spends per pupil double the national average possibly more than any other city or developed nation in the world even when adjusted for cost of living. Time and time again has shown that increasing funding doesn't improve anything if the policies are not good. Imagine if all that money that's funding the bloated DOE went to better use.

there was a demographic survey done on this sub and I remember in detail that a majority of users were straight white american males aged 14-15 that held one job or less. Also, a high number of users identified as lgbtq. This mayy explain why you see some of the weirdest and most inappropriate comments in this sub.

in nyc, minimum wage is 15$. What some businesses do to not lose money is only allow the workers to work part time. They may also raise prices of merchandise as well.
