It depends on the state, the kind of job, and the sort of company you're working for. General rule of thumb is that companies offer holiday pay as an incentive to get people to actually come in, but it's usually not legally required. Overtime is a bit of a different matter, but even then enforcement varies quite a bit state to state.

This is the dirty, untalked-about secret of solar power. Sure, it generates power cleanly, but producing the panels (and repairing/replacing them as needed) has never been a clean process, and the amount of panels we'd need to have solar power produce a significant chunk of power needs is pretty significant. It currently amounts to about 3-4% of global production, even with recent increases in solar usage.

Furthermore, the amount of batteries we'd have to produce and probably continue producing (batteries only last a certain amount of recharge cycles) to make solar power effectively store-able in large amounts is staggering, even after eventual further improvements in overall battery tech.

And we surely haven't made improvements on nuclear power technology in the forty years it's been since Three Mile Island happened. /s

Balloons in general shouldn't be as widely encouraged anymore. It's a prime example of casual wastefulness by your average person, you buy a balloon to have it hang around uselessly for a few hours or a day, and then it deflates and the garbage either ends up on the ground somewhere or filling up a fucking landfill.

At the very least use something actually biodegradable instead of latex or metallic foil.

There's also the option to travel via busses, from what I understand. Japan's well known for its mass transit. Just about every story I've read that's set in Japan has characters traveling by foot, bike, bus, or train, cars are depicted as more an optional luxury or maybe something used by people who live lifestyles that aren't entirely cooperative with transit schedules.

Clearly, this is caused by the decline of the tent's natural predators, leading to an overpopulation crisis.

I think they'd prefer the homeless and downtrodden to just keep out of sight like they 'used to'.

That's gotta be absolutely vile water. Just looking at it makes me feel ill, it's all brown and sludgy. I wouldn't even want to smell it, let alone get near it.

Should've been Gimli talking to Eomer. "Give me your CC info, horse-master, and I will give you mine."

And they are free to attempt to do so NEXT YEAR. This idiotic recall election occurs just one year before the 2022 gubernatorial election.

State Republicans know they can't win state-wide elections anymore, so they're trying to cheat the system by abusing the recall option. That's all this is.

2

COMMENT 13d ago

And the ONLY reason this shit is being done is because state Republicans know they'll utterly fail to take the governorship in 2022, just like they have in every gubernatorial election since Schwarzenegger's re-election in 2006 after getting into office on, you guessed it, another recall. They're using the recall as an end-run around the gubernatorial election process.

4

COMMENT 13d ago

The bulk of the recall ballot is either whackjobs, obviously not-serious candidates (Some lady naming herself 'Angelyne' on the ballot? Really?) or from really obscure, niche political parties.

The real Republican 'candidate' is Jon Cox, who got his ass kicked in 2018 by 38 to 61 and who is likely what the CA GOP would've coughed up for the 2022 election next year in the absence of anyone of real merit. They have more chance of succeeding with this blatant abuse of the recall process than they have of winning a legitimate state-wide election in California.
