The treatment of the actor who plays Ackbar is pretty much a TL:DR for how the sequels treated everything Star Wars. They paraded him about, mocked him, then went on to do something completely unrelated.

And his hand was replaced on the medical frigate after they abandoned the Hoth base. Regardless the rebellion operating out of smuggler's dens on uninhabited worlds or a convoy of ships at some point outside the galactic plane isn't getting better medical care than a general in the capital of the Republic. Even assuming Star Wars technology is progressing as fast as ours, compare the medical facilities of Occupy Portland to a Washington DC hospital 20 years ago.

"Second rate rebel medical care" was a completely lifelike artificial hand that had the same sense of touch and a bacta tank to heal from getting mauled by a wampa and subsequent frostbite.
Anakin had the artificial arm he thought looked cool.

I liked the first one because they didn't sing. It was so nice having a kids movie thst wasn't a musical. I love it and NIMH.

Politics in a nutshell. Abortion laws are written by men who know nothing about embryonic development. Gun laws are written by men who know nothing about guns. Then they get someone with relevant experience to write a law about industrial regulations and everyone is upset that the industry is writing their own regulations. You can't win.
But really, I don't want to have firefighters dealing with deathtraps when they respond to a call from a neighbor.

The death penalty is abhorrent because it is handed out based on the severity of the crime, not the veracity of the evidence. Better to lock an innocent man up and release them later than kill them.

The law is meant to protect police breaking into your house. Protecting home invaders is a side effect. Also it wasn't a manslaughter charge. The guy lived and sued and because the trap was aimed at leg level was proof it was a gross harm trap and not a deadly trap. So the homeow er was sued successfully by the burglar.

In Murica you are expected to shoot the thief yourself.

A lot of us are quite upset at this, especially since there wasn't any coverage of him getting arrested. Throwing gravel into a crowd isn't acceptable behavior. You can put someone's eye out. This guy deserves to he grounded and lose his BB gun privileges.
Our clowns used to have enough self awareness to throw a cream pie.

I mean, you don't need a religion to give up critical thinking skills. Look at Communist states. North Korea is a necropolis ruled by the dead. Technically atheist. Still crazy bullshit.

I should probably specify economically right except for environmental protections, but yes our Greens have shifted away from that.

Kanye gets a lot of flak for his right wing views, but someone waltzing into my home at 4 A.M. would get me onto the castle doctrine second amendment loving train.

Not a fan of the normal stand your ground laws that lead to antimaskers in Costco crying "I'm feeling threatened" before pulling out a conceal carry at the poor greeter telling him to wear a mask.
But the castle doctrine laws allowing Amy Winehouse to shoot someone breaking her window at 3 A.M.? Yeah, fuck that guy. Fire at will, Amy!

Greens make sense. There are international Green parties and they tend to be right wing environmentalists. Much like how Ducks Unlimited was founded by hunters wanting to preserve wetlands.
But when I look at the People's Republic of China or the People's Republic of Korea... Well I guess it makes sense. When China gave up on communism and embraced capitalism the ruling class is still completely in love with authoritarianism.

To be fair he could have been a bigger endorser of public health when he was President, rather than suggest people inject bleach and those who died of COVID are weaklings.

It is amazing how people who claim to not believe in natural selection want to base political policy on it. No vaccines or public health care. No abortions, no phblic child care or welfare. Let the kids fend for themselves. The strong will survive and improve the species as God's chosen.

I find their naming weird. The first time I heard the term "People's Party of Canada" I assumed it was the communists rebranding themselves. But then again, it isn't the first time a far right party has taken terms from far left parties to make themselves seem more appealing.

In the prequels there was only slavery in systems outside the Republic. Under the Empire only aliens were slaves. Now slavery is universal! Progress!
