Yeah it is water under the bridge at this point. Or like I said, who knows he could ultimately not have his reputation really hurt at all and he makes a comeback. Not saying because that's necessarily what I want to happen, it's just that sometimes truth is stranger than fiction. It also seems to be his life's work as well.

I do think though rather than scaring women away from the field the bigger problem is the hit to funding if we don't have someone with the charisma of pre-tainted AdG out there as a cheerleader and fundraiser, but I could be 100% wrong on that.

No, that's not how it works. Again, as the video points out, cells aren't dying (at least not in significant numbers) the issue is there are complications in restarting the flow of oxygenated blood to the brain.

Fair disclosure: I am not a biologist or doctor myself.

But that link seems like a layman's guide to CPR.

It also says "permanent brain damage begins after 4 minutes"

Says nothing about brain CELL death.

And then:

and death can occur as soon as 4 to 6 minutes later

Also says nothing about all the individual cells in your brain exploding after 10 minutes. It's saying by modern medical standards you are not recoverable after about 10 minutes of total blood flow loss to the brain. 50-100 years ago you were not recoverable the moment your heart stopped, ie the moment you loss blood flow to the brain.

Watch or listen to the video. Even if you think cryonics is bogus, Dr. More still brings up good points. From my understanding as a layman myself it seems like after about 4-10 minutes the problem is not cell death but:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No_reflow_phenomenon

EDIT: IOW the no reflow phenomenon means that even if you restarted circulation the micro damage would later cause cells to become damaged or die. They haven't started dying yet. Again, watch/listen to the video.

First of all brain cells don't die after 6 minutes without oxygen even if you undergo complete cardiac arrest (ie no blood flow to the brain and thus zero oxygen):

https://youtu.be/Ap8b-3EUwn8

But in the case of holding your breath, your lungs and blood still hold oxygen and if your heart is pumping it keeps sending it to your brain. Obviously it gets depleted so you can't hold your breath forever.

What a bunch of bull. I don't need to assume every dog will bite me, I just need to fear ONE dog ONE day on my 60-100 years on this planet COULD bite me.

And I've had enough encounters with scary shitty dogs.

I used to live at a place where the neighbors (no fence) had some type of pit / bull mastiff mix. He was huge and named "Bruiser" (lovely) was a complete shit and came into our backyard numerous times barking and snarling and showing his teeth at us. It scared me enough to the point where every time I went in the back yard I was carrying a knife. He almost mauled my girlfriend once too when I wasn't even home. She said she thought she was going to die... when our landlord's little beagle came out and barked at Bruiser right before jumping on her. He was in our back yard the time he almost knocked my girlfriend down.

The landlords also happened to later get a rescue pit bull of their own. The dog liked the landlords and my girlfriend, but absolutely hated me. No reason why. She snapped at me a few times and I did absolutely nothing to her. Tried to make friends with her. Nope.

Now years later my girlfriend and I have our own house in a different town (more like village in both cases, both were very rural areas). I go on runs and every third time I go running, I hear a dog (it's not a pit. I'm not sure what it is, it's all brown and big. About the size of Rottweiler but doesn't look like a Rottweiler or pit). It always barks at me aggressively. The people who own him always yell at him but a couple times he's come close enough to me where my knife was in my hand. I have to carry a fucking knife while running because of an aggressive shit of a dog. Now in the past few months they have a for sale sign on their house and I haven't seen them or the dog home. Thank god.

Am I supposed to just accept the risk of getting bit because of the type of dog you like?

>Often the reason a dog gets uncomfortable is a strange person or animal.

That's one thing if the dog is in your house and the only potential victims are people are you and the people you invite over. Dog owners expect everyone else to take the risk of their fucking pooches too. Here's a novel idea:

Keep the dog in your house. If you need to let it outside? Put it in a fucking dog run it can't get out of. My mom did this was with her German Shepard. Then my only complaint about your dogs will be possibly their barking.

How about that? No dogs outside unless they are in an inescapable fence (ie dog run).

> It hurts me that it's often the end result of a bad encounter.

It's sad that that seems to hurt you more than when dogs hurt people. Or when the dog hurts other dogs/cats/etc.

Just curious for any amateur (or professional?) Ukrainian lawyers who know about what this guy will get hit with? What crime(s) and how much time?

Wish I could retire now. I'm only 41. Granted I've saved close to, if not enough already to retire this decade, just need to keep adding to my pile to make it even sooner. I am just done with this shit.

Honestly? If this sets back LEV by like 2 years, then yes I think AdG should be defended. The amount of suffering from aging for another unnecessary 2 years are NOT worth taking AdG's scalp. Two women's suffering on this issue, while tragic, are not worth it.

Of course we don't know the future and on the other hand this could accelerate anti aging research by 2 years. Or it could have zero impact on the timeline at all.

And aside from that who knows, AdG may form SRF 2.0 and get even more people onboard (more specifically, more money). As they say, no publicity is bad publicity. I'm not saying this because I'm a fangirl and want him back necessarily. I just want LEV.

An illusion? Did he roll a successful saving throw we all don't know about?

They see poor black people getting treated and are outraged

Yep. My FIL (of course a Republican) when Obamacare was being debated, said, and I quote: "they're trying to give health care to the n*****s"." I'm sure you guys can figure out the word he said.

They really only want "real Americans" (in their eyes) to get care.

Maybe we should say "MAKE SURE YOU GO TO THE HOSPITAL IF YOU GET COVID."

And they'll say "nuh uh" and stop going?

My mom (in her 70s) is. My inlaws (in their 60s) are not.

I got a booster already myself. Went to a different pharmacy as a walk in.

I'm not immunocompromised, not obese, no health conditions and I'm 41. But just said fuck it because the vaccine would end up in the trash anyway.

But yes of course I do think that the developed/rich countries should be sending way more doses to Africa and other places.

The stormtroopers were actually very accurate. Remember in Ep 4 they were missing on purpose. :p

I think there's an inside story I'm missing here. Did a Mustang crash into protestors?

COMMENT 7d ago

I'm not sure it's that. I can't vouch for the other people commenting, but I am not anti-SJW at all. I'm a woman too. I'm afraid though. This is a gut punch.

The rational part of me wants to say in reality it's no big deal that this happened and it wouldn't have been a big deal either if AdG died in a plane crash two years ago. There's not one lone genius. It's not my field but I'm sure there are tons of people working on it. However he did seem to be very good, far better than anyone else at popularizing the movement, at least to the general public. Whether or not he is or was needed to popularize the idea to biologists and mega donors I'll admit I don't have a clue.

The emotional part of me wants to say this will set the field back 10 years or more. But I know that's unlikely to be the rational view of it. Personally there are no lone heroes or lone saviors. But I want this technology, damnit.

Maybe with everyone else, whether they're anti SJW or not it's just fear and lashing out rather than thinking "females ruined this" or some BS like that. I'm suspecting a lot would feel the same if AdG was gay and sent a message to a 17 year old boy and the other stuff he's accused of doing (just change the gender as needed).

Why's that?

2

COMMENT 7d ago

Do Americans actually get a physical card to show they're vaccinated?

Yes.

we have an app that automatically gets updated whenever you got your shots.

Not to be a dick but - how the hell are the old people using the app to prove vaccination? Or is it internal to your health system, rather than the patient?
