Well this place doesn't actually exist. That address isn't valid and I know right where that shopping center is - there isn't a gun store in there. Also, a quick reverse search of the address shows that this place used to be called honor something firearms and their domain no longer works. Also, the BBB shows this place as BBB File Opened: 7/12/2021 with a D+ rating.

The domain is recently registered (this month) as well. Also a quick reverse image search of the 'owners' shows that they are images from the covers of a book with totally different names.

Yes. A manf. can ship directly to the owner for warranty/repair work. It falls under the mailing something to yourself exemption.

Roughly similar story. When I was younger I went from 1.4MM to 40k in 24 hours when the papers were signed. In the end I paid her off to make her go away and never have a claim on anything I ever did ever again.

I went through about 9-12 mos of saying "fuck it" I am not going to work that hard ever again. I went on a motorcycle ride around europe for a few months, spent the last 40k, and came back with $84 in my bank account, no job, and no place to live. It was refreshing and what I needed. From there I rebuilt and was on a mission to do whatever the hell I wanted to get me where I wanted.

Many years later I am well beyond all of that. My life is fairly awesome and my bank account is in great shape. More importantly I can claim everything as my own.

The most important thing about marriage is getting the first one out of the way.

2) Dense Wifi IoT in a constrained place is the dumb due to 2.4GHz overhead, spacing, signaling.

Is this out on 36? Is this really 3 sided? If it is 3 sided, 1) how deep are the sides? 2) how much for the whole range (so we can work on movement drills)? Do you have steel or would we need to bring our own?

I have a couple of people DM'ing me about the book recommendation "A Seat at the Table" - the full title is "A Seat at the Table: IT Leadership in the Age of Agility" by Mark Schwartz.

One of the best, most relevant, books on IT leadership from a semi-technical point of view. Its all about how the role of the CIO has changed in recent years with the focus on Agile - but it is relevant for any IT leadership role.

There is a thousand things.. but a couple I tend to share with folks that are transitioning from individual contributor to leader/manager in this type of role:

  • If you are going to be leading people/managing, your job isn't to do the work, the job is to figure out how to make the work work. e.g. its about enabling not doing.
  • Prepare to have some internal/emotional crisis about how you are showing value in your new role. Figure out *now* how you are going to answer that (hint: has nothing to do with your technical prowess).
  • Data > Opinion make fact based decisions and be prepared to be questioned about why those are the right data points.

  • Go read the book "Seat At the Table" and "The Phoenix Project"

Boulder has been having "public meetings" which are just MDA/Watts people getting up and talking about the evils of guns, with no public discourse allowed. They have promised complete ban on all guns (of all types) and 50% ammo tax on any ammo bought in the city/county. Was talking with someone on the ground there and they are trying to figure out how do the San Jose mandatory insurance thing, but are waiting on the mother ship (MDA/Watts) to draft the wording and get it though their legal people.

My two favorites that I have received as part of a Sr. Leadership Team.

  1. Each member of the team was given a rather nice bottle (+2-5k range) of their favorite wine/bourbon/scotch accompanied by an exotic food item that they had a chef pair with it. The nice part wasn't the alcohol - it was that someone special (damn I loved that admin) paid attention over the years and *knew* what everyone on that team really liked and got them exactly that. Most of us ended up sampling each others bounty until the wee hours.
  2. Race driving session on a track with 4 hours of instruction by a rather famous driver. The whole team was together as part of a celebration and team building, but each of us got to drive the car we liked (porsche, audi, amg, etc).

I prefer the whole experiences over things..

Go talk to an architecture firm that specializes in distilleries. May seem like a big investment up front, but the money you will save dealing with construction, permitting, building inspectors, ATF/TTB, etc is well worth it. They will also understand the little things like how to do tasting rooms vs. bars vs. on-site/off-site, etc. e.g. the things that will actually make you money.

Treat them as cattle, not pets.
Everything should be 'documented' in the source code* used to create them.

* for ephemeral data that should be documented/stored in Consul or any other KVS.
