I dont think there is an argument that hes unworthy as a quality player. But when hes not currently active and also has no timeline to return i think its fair to ask if the other extremely talented lb would be adding more value as a captain this season

No ones saying its his fault that hes been injured. But it is tough to have a caotain that wont be on the field when another great player in the position group is perfectly healthy and will end up filling the role until he comes back. And we dont have a timeline for him to come back.

I dont stress the captain stuff and i think we value barr as a communicator enough that it makes sense for him to be a captain. But I also think the other guy has a point and we still dont know if barr will even play this season yet

Hes definitely our best lb and one of our best players but I think barr does more of calling out the reads and shifting players around for our defense. Being captain is more about being the communicator and getting everyone hyoed and in position than playing well. But obviously kendricks would be the guy if it wasnt barr and can do that whenever needed. And everyone on the team knows hes one of the best vikings players

It sounded to me like the issue was him being the only guy doing that and them needing him to do that. He knew he was coming to the vikings partly to help the younger cornerbacks get better but hes also mentioned a lot how helpful it is to have vets like harrison smith or kendricks around. If barr doesnt say a word the rest of the defense will function fine. But I think he likes hyping people up and communicates a lot naturally most of the time. Its just an easier job for him here on this current roster than it was his last year in arizona.

Hills probably the most consistent besides o'neill, even if he wont be as good as some of the others flashes, and hopefully production as a whole.

I think the line will be a lot better this year. Somewhere between 15-22 with much better run blocking than pass blocking.

I dont think they'll have it all together yet in week 1-2 though. So no to week 1, yes to doing well

We talk a lot here about if the vikings will want to resig. Kirk or not after '22 but I honestly dont think he'll want to stay either. Seems like he likes it here but at this stage of his career hed probably want to go somewhere with more choice and and a more pass centric offense.

Basically with the caveat that I think JJ fits the vikings offense and personnel slightly better too. But I think we mostly agree. Diggs has done everything possible to be in the best current reciever conversation and I think he deserves any props he gets.

JJ is younger with more time on his rpokie contract. I think diggs has more raw athletic skills but JJ applies himself a little better. I really dont think anhone beats justin off the line with his footwork and ability to fake out coverage. Diggs might be open a little more consistently but JJ will be wide open more often. Diggs is a little better at contested catches but JJ is a little better at breaking out after the catch when hes still got a man on him. Id rather have JJ with thielen but diggs is probably a safer #1 reciever for most teams. I think JJ being hard to read fits really well in playing with thielen and all of our play action because it just becomes really difficult to read and react compared to just being burned and outplayed by diggs even if you do read the play right.

Id live to hear some of his blunt comments about why we had so much cap space for defense but not offense. Seems like this ignores draftin issues and the way the cap we do have is disbursed. Still better than most generic coach responses at least

Ive heard about him injuring sparring partners pretty often without concern. This waa during the beginning of his ufc climb but I cant imagine its changed besides him sparring less overall.

Hes very solid for depth. Hes just not a good starter.

To be fair the bengals run defense is usually their bigger issue. Should be a field day for our offense in general. I just hope kirk doesnt take a few games to ramp up

Irv smith jr was going to be splitting time with conklin. Theres no way herndon wont. Its just how the vikings use their 2 te's. If 1 te gets most of the throws it becomes easier for defenses to read and theyre job is mainly to block and take off the 2 recievers not be recievers. It only works better when the tight ends can catch and get open too but thwy wont be treated as a wr3 and 4

I think they were always happy with him being someone that turns into a good backup qb. He could be better and he was frafted because of that but they know theyre stuck with cousins for a bit and this was the gamble they took in the meantime. But they know the most likely outcome is having to spend more capital on a more nfl ready prospect.

I like the mond pick because even if we can get him a little consistent we should be able to trade him for the 3rd he costs at some point to a team with a need or an injury. If he can just be solid backup quality we'll always have the option to start,backup, or trade him and it'll be worth the 3rd round investment
