Meaning you do the same work but work for yourself and pick up jobs you see fit? I’d like to do this with accounting but not certain where to start

Thanks to democracy and the stock market seemingly pricing in a Joe Biden win my net worth has finally surpassed the $200k mark! This puts me about 25% of the way to retirement and leaves me with about 12 more years working in corporate.
12 years it probably a bit too high for a couple reasons: 1. My earnings are much higher now than at the start of my career 2. I would like to leave corporate in 4-5 years to start my own business. I currently make about $10k from a side hustle that I would like to make my full time job in the future
My NW was just under $130k at the start of the year and I really thought it would be a big stretch to hit $200k before the end of the year, much less in November during a highly contentious presidential election!

Chipotle does suck indeed. I’d recommend considering community college. This will help you get your grades up, be an extremely affordable option, and allow you to get in state residency BEFORE transferring to a 4 year NY state college. Tuition is about $10k less per year than out of state students. It may not sound important now, but the 25+ year old version of you will be grateful.
By going to community college first you: 1. Can learn more about yourself and what you want to pursue 2. Don’t have to take out massive student loans 3. Can get a part time job to cover some expenses 4. Adapt to life in a big city 5. Can transfer to a CUNY/SUNY school (state schools in NY) and be considered an in state resident. This will save you ~$10k/year depending on the school.
Feel free to DM me if you want to chat further. This is a burner account for me because I talk pretty openly about my salary, etc. but am happy to provide some guidance if you would find it valuable.
Grew up in NY and now live in IL 😊
