No. He's saying those things happened. Unlike this sovereign citizen crap, 'the troubles' were not made up fantasy bullshit. They were real.

Arithmetic is used to calculate things. Mathematics is...mathematics. And it turns out it is often very useful in the natural sciences. But Galois (one of the founders of group theory) died almost 100 years before quantum physics was born. Yet I doubt there is anyone currently studying or using quantum physics who isn't versed in group theory.

???. ISPs were given billions of dollars of government money to build the fiber optic network the modern U.S. internet relies on (although they pocketed most of that initial $400 billion, further taxes and public fees did eventually get us mostly there). It wasn't 'private capital'.

The biggest problem is the fact that acreage carries more political power than population. Wyoming, Montana, the Dakotas- what is that, a little over 3 million people? And they have 8 senators, while California, with a little under 40 million people, has 2. That was the point behind the 200+ year old design of our government, and it still stands: landowners rule.

But that would be "its name is" or "its name's" not "it's". "It's" is always short for "it is".

COMMENT 4d ago
Could be "its name ise's". But definitely no apostrophe on "its", in this case, as it's the possessive use, not the contraction of "it is".

*its name's
Just because it's funny you missed on both.

When I say Reagan is THE Republican of the last 50 years, I mean he is the most revered, most cited, most beloved Republican among Republicans.
3
COMMENT 5d ago
Reagan is much more revered and claimed as the ultimate in conservative swellness (by Republicans).

Being awful tough on the Beave, aren't you Ward? But otherwise, pretty much. Although all of this is couched and hidden in slogans/tenets that are much more palatable than your very accurate list of real-world consequences.

Pretty much THE Republican of the last 50 years. At least before Trump. And he may still qualify, since Trump is more of a Trumplican.

Ok. This had me laughing. If you are not the originator, pass it back up the chain- I'm stealing it.

Your reply is a much nicer expression of my thoughts than the [deleted] reply I left above. Emotional comfort is very, very powerful.

But this was because black citizens were carrying loaded weapons. And he didn't need to say the quiet part out loud- everyone knew.

The Lion In Winter is such a good film. Katherine Hepburn is fantastic, and when I watch her in this I have to pinch myself that this is the same woman who brought up baby.

Yea. For me, that's the whole point of capitalism. Capital (wealth) allows the building of higher piles of capital (wealth).
