Lol at least they’re not afraid of black bears.

For bears? Just bring bear spray if you’re worried. I’ve backcountry camped for years and never felt threatened to the point of needing a gun. They’ll most likely be more interested in your food.

I have a toller and am a hunter (mostly deer but some birds). I also have friends who own other hunting breeds. My dogs a pup (9 months) but I would say most breeders around me (Canada) breed their dogs more for show and not hunting. Im not sure if this is a trend with this breed because they make good show dogs. I think as a result of this lots of tollers don't have the same drive as a lot of other hunting breeds. Im sure there are exceptions and you may be able to find a breeder who primarily breeds for hunting but if thats what you want out of a dog then theres plenty of other breeds/breeders who tailor their dogs primarily for hunting. Thats just my experience. BUT this breed is exceptional for an active lifestyle. My pup loves the water and being outdoors. She is a great hiking companion and will jump in my canoe to go for a paddle any day of the year. They are incredibly smart and make great retrievers for ducks/smaller birds. I would absolutely recommend this breed and it sounds like a good fit for you. I haven't heard of a toller retrieving a fish but Im sure its entirely possible and would be hilarious to watch. If you cant find a toller pup check out small munsterlanders. My friend has one and hes a great outdoor pup and has a high drive. An aussie would be a terrible gun dog in my opinion.

It seems to me like the high value raw food your feeding is making the RG worse. This food is so delicious to your pup that he/she feels as if they need to woof it down as quickly as possible out of fear of getting it stolen by another animal. I’m not an expert so take my advice with a grain of salt but I would honestly try to go back to kibble for a bit. You can always switch back to raw later when the problem has gotten better.

Has anyone had any experiences of providing care on an airplane? Their kits are pretty stocked with medications. Some of which paramedics are very familiar with.

I use the PetSafe 3 in 1 harness for my 8 month old toller. You can find it on amazon. She has the small size. She hates it but walks much better on it.

Anyone else have a really vocal Toller? When my girl lays down she lets out the loudest sigh/moan.

The part where they talk about paramedics ordered not to intubate anyone is taken out of context and often sensationalized. Paramedics may be directed not to resuscitate someone who is in cardiac arrest (dead) who presents with very little chance of survival. We're talking a <2% chance of survival in some cases.

A few years ago I was called to a doctors office for a gentleman having chest pain. We did our thing with the physician watching over us and asked to see the 12-lead right after it was printed. The guy held it UPSIDE DOWN and handed it back to us saying it was fine. Sure thing doc!

I never realized how opinionated dog owners are until I got a pup of my own. Every dog is different.

I think the most difficult part will be the puppy phase. But you'll go through that with any breed really.
