I actually solved my post-Catholicism meat-on-Fridays guilt by purposely eating meat on Fridays during Lent. Sounds kind of strange but much like exposure therapy, it worked pretty well.

Yup—we were raised with the Lenten Sunday loophole as well. I always thought that was even more ridiculous than the idea of giving something up in the first place. It’s like, you have to sacrifice, but just in case sacrificing is too hard to do seven days a week, here’s a freebie for ya!

I’ve heard that the church has moved more towards advising things like extra prayer, works of service, etc and less towards “giving things up”, too.

My confirmation name was Maria after St Maria Goretti...sheesh.

I’m in Silver Springs, so just about anywhere I wanna go is at least 30 minutes away. There’s a few out towards/in Ocala. Will have to try to get out there this afternoon maybe.

While I didn’t buy into the hype and sub to GBU, I am going on my third (maybe fourth?) month with GBP and I have to say while my first two (three?) months were fine to good (LOVE the nomad palette), I’m disenchanted with this month’s box and remembering why I cancelled my GB the first tome.

Of the five products in my GBP, THREE of them are marked “rarely” in my profile and I’ve gotten them far more frequently than I’d consider rarely. I understand the quiz and profile isn’t a guarantee you won’t receive those items, but it’s really frustrating to get a box where the majority of items are “rarely” items. I’m giving them one more month and if I’m still unhappy, I’m finished.
