I can't help with visa stuff but can confirm Adelaide has been basically the least affected city in the world by covid. We've had about 6 days lockdown total. But, once you're here, there's no leaving.

Fellow tradie here doing a similar thing! Forgot how much I used to love reading as a teen and now im 33 and hadn't read a whole book in over a decade (until recently) mixing up top 100 lists mixed with some penguin classics and also top sellers. I started with Rum Diary by Hunter S Thompson because it was small and I'd always heard of him! Now I spend my downtime in the work truck reading books instead of scrolling my life away on bookface or reddit!

At the moment even Australian citizens are struggling to be allowed home. We can't even travel within states here at the moment. I wouldn't get your hopes up for Australia. They won't let us out either 😖

Yeah cost of living is high but there are a lot of opportunities to make money here. Especially for someone doing our job! Sweden would be amazing and Germany! I think jobs are hard to come by in Ireland! That's why there are so many in Australia! Cost of child care here is very high, I know that sometimes it is cheaper for one parent to stay home, because even if they worked full-time, all the money would go towards child care! Its crazy! I am glad I'm not having kids! Maybe you can emigrate to one of those other countries with your friends, or come here to Australia!

Yeah that sucks friend. Yeah it is pretty expensive in Australia but the job pays well here. Sorry to hear it is not as good over there! Are there other companies that pay more or is it the whole industry?

Yeah I would love to do some sort of exchange for a year or something! We don't have wooden poles in my state so I'd love to learn how to climb with those spikey boots! Where abouts do you live?

Umm I am in a union but think it works a bit different over here. We're going through a big fight atm with our company. So lucky we are strong unionised group

Nice one!! I've never actually worked out how many hours of OT I do. But I would assume quite a lot. Is troubleman someone who only does breakdown work? Its a bit different in Aus. We don't have titles like journeyman and troubleman etc what is the difference? We all just do all the work. Also don't call myself a line man cos I'm a chick but being Australian everything has a nickname so we're linies.
