I started school in the US at third grade, that's when I became malnourished because my parents expected the school lunch to be able to feed me. I was constantly hungry. School lunch in America is a fucking joke. Not only it isn't enough calories for a child but also its fucking disgusting, I had to eat everything that was served because I was fucking hungry and that meant eating a cold and dry 'burger'. I really missed the school lunches we had in the Socialist (literally Socialist) country I came from. We had 3 course fucking meals. Soup, entre, desert and a drink. Served on a proper plate with proper cutlery. not a paper plate with a ketchup packet. You can tell I'm still bitter about it.
