I'm unable to answer the first part, but Cake wallet is extremely user friendly for storing and sending coins.

personally I use Coinbase to buy crypto (doesn't matter which one, since im only using it for exchange) and then I'll send it to Kraken to buy XMR.

I'm sure there's an easier workflow, though. hopefully other commenters will chime in.
