That’s not quite true. In specialized skill fields, usually wages grow pretty rapidly with experience. But the beginning can be an absolute slog, especially if it is a typical “career of passion” where owners will exploit people’s hopes to break into a “dream job”.
An example I can provide is to look at the average CFI salary, regional airline pilot salary, and then finally a major pilot salary.

A pilot just died in VT a couple of weeks ago. I think being in a basket, untethered is terrifying personally.

If his parents really know what they're doing, they've probably also sheltered him from their non-retirement account worths.

In that case supply would exceed demand, and you'd see prices come down until they're full again.

could automate it with toll style cameras from above, focusing on the driver & auto interior vs license plate. or both.

You’d be better off with a wired ground based drone, but I think it would be possible with enough $.

I used to work at an air taxi - very small airplanes. We were not allowed to use averages, but instead weighed every passenger and bag. The difference between what many told me, and their scale weight, was staggering at times.

I dislike when people are entirely dismissive of YouTube as a source of learning. It all falls back on learning to think critically and vet your sources, of course. Which some people mean partially of course by, formal education.
Is watching moon landing conspiracy vids education? No. But people who are automatically dismissive of YouTube are just as bad. The issue is people conflating the two.
That being said, there’s unironically good ways to become fairly educated in a topic, just on YouTube / the internet. It’s just that without a formal educator, one has to be a lot more perceptive of realizing that they don’t know, what they don’t know.

Is logging solo time even worth the extra logbook column past your ratings? I did a lot of survey time solo & always just logged pic, day/night, XC & total as applicable.

A lot of people come in with way more energy than they need. I know some experienced pilots who always come in at 100 knots, no matter the plane. Baron? 100 knots. Pa32? 100 knots. Bn-2? 100 knots. Lol.

I think the hate stems from the fact that it's essentially a tiered $ -> fun system, the more you spend, the more fun you get to have. Lots of people like tonk game, not everyone wants to shell out hundreds or thousands to enjoy it.
