Subsidized degrees make sense where cost of tuition doesn’t align with career earnings with that degree. An overarching college subsidy with no restrictions is insane. If your family has net worth of $x amount, no subsidy. If your degree is to become a dentist, no subsidy…your investment will payoff more than a person who chose not to get a degree.
