After hearing a few horror stories from women in the industry, I started only going to female tattoo artists (just because fuck the patriarchy and because I wanted to throw some support their way), and the tattoos are so good. My last two artists both had fine art illustration degrees, and their work is amazing.

Yeah, I think the overlap of the Venn diagram of women sneaking across the border and who voted red is probably pretty damn thin. Most low income republican women won’t have the abortion because religion (or they drank the koolaid in general) and the wealthy republicans won’t have to “sneak,” they’ll fly to some resort town and have the best doctors.

Yep, my ability to walk 20 miles home just went up watching this video. I can barely ride elevators with my claustrophobia when like 4 people get in.

Quite the workout too.

I know this is meant as a joke, but the real fucked up thing is that you are six weeks pregnant four weeks after conception. They count since your last period, and most women ovulate midway between periods. So it’s nearly impossible to know you are pregnant at 5 weeks. Here’s a link with more info for anyone curious.

One of my fandom friends stumbled on one of mine once and it was an Instagram rec! So it wasn’t searchable at all because it was a photo of the text of the rec. So, now when that happens, I just assume it’s something like that—apparently there’s a whole bunch of fandom rec accounts (I only have my personal IG, so I don’t tend to share/follow fanfic stuff on there since I like to keep that separate).

Oh yeah, fox and bobcat cries can sound like someone being murdered!

I wonder if it’s not as bad. If I remember my long ago anthro class correctly, species that take care of their young generally evolve to respond strongly to their own “baby crying sounds” (that’s obviously the official terminology right there). Like my spine doesn’t crawl at the sounds of a baby bird screeching, whereas a baby human screeching makes me want to pour hot wax in my ears.

I hadn’t even thought about that, but yep—this is exactly what I would do!

Also, the rate of interaction has remained fairly consistent even since mailing lists. So, while there might have been some blips or particular fandoms that got more, mostly, it just is what it is.

I took out a loan for post-bacc nearly 15 years ago to do pre-recs for my grad school program. I had to take out half subsidized and half unsubsidized. The unsubsidized absolutely accrued interest while I was in school. This isn’t a rule change, it’s just likely not the type of loan you had/are familiar with.

There are scholarships and aid, but the cost for 4-years is so inflated that it’s rarely enough. It’s much easier to get enough aid for trade school or community college.

I came here to say this. That’s my favorite dynamic!

This is exactly what my childhood looked like. And they also don’t seem to get that by not retiring even when they could, they made it so their own kids did not have access to the childcare that is grandma and grandpa. I feel like this generation (obviously, not all boomers) had no problem taking from their parents and then not paying it forward to their own kids.

My mom has actually been wonderful but most of my friends had virtually no help when their kids were young. And when my mom was still working and my dad was already retired, he just “wasn’t up for it” even when I was sobbing because I had childcare fall through again and thought I was going to lose my job.

If Gen X seems apathetic, I really think what you’re seeing is a slow simmering bitterness that started back when we were latchkey kids and no one bothered to even check if we were alive most days.

My boobs are so large and floaty that they are practically a life vest. Getting my torso to stay under water is actually tricky if I’m not upright.

If you have time to be near their food or drink before hand, you could probably make this work.

So far, this is definitely the most lethal weapon on this list.

You could just diagnose them until they cry?

Rubbermaid food containers. The upside is I’m 80% less likely to injure myself with my own weapon in the battle.

My NOTP is too much of a squick and I want to crawl out of my skin just thinking about it so definitely pay someone else.

One of the first guys I kissed actually kissed this way. I would blame it on fanfiction but it was the mid-90s.

That’s a good point! I loathe ffn so much that I often forget people still post there 😂

You might want to rethink how you view gender roles. This is getting into pretty biased territory here.

I also dislike feminized Harry (because it is nearly always OOC), but this argument about the word giggled just doesn’t make any sense. Anyone can giggle. Giggling is that kind of laugh when it just kind of escapes you and gets a bit out of control and can be nervous laughter. My tall, bald, bearded, tough-looking husband giggles occasionally because he’s human, not because he suddenly became like a woman. Now, that isn’t to say that giggling can’t be written in a way (or any gesture) where it reads more feminine. But I have a really hard time with any human behavior being entirely attributed to one gender. Women and girls aren’t an alien species.

Have you ever seen two guys in high school in a classroom trying not to laugh when the teacher accidentally says something that could have a sexual connotation? Where they start laughing really quietly in an uncontrollable way? That’s giggling.

From the Cambridge dictionary ~~~

Definition: to laugh repeatedly in a quiet but uncontrolled way, often at something silly or rude or when you are nervous.

Examples: We giggled at the back of the room like naughty schoolchildren. I couldn't help giggling at the sight of Mum and Dad standing there, dripping wet. He was giggling uncontrollably and had to leave the room to pull himself together. When she suddenly started to sing, we all looked at each other and started to giggle. What are you giggling about? Have I said something funny?~~~

Whenever I join a new server I have to mute like all but one of two channels so that I don’t get overwhelmed and then I very slowly start adding more back in. (And some I wind up keeping muted).
