Not religious myself but watched this after going on a MASH marathon since its showrunner/head writer is Larry Gelbart. Between that, Denver, Burns, and Terri Garr's megawatt star power, and Reiner's fast-paced direction, I was very surprised how much I enjoyed this!

Nice! Being There is, I believe, the most faithful film adaptation I'm aware of. And it's got a disco version of Thus Spoke Zarathustra. It's also simply a great movie, so I'm sure it was on Kubrick's radar.

I'm interested to realize Kubrick would lift shots from others. I know he reached out to Vilmos Zigmund to ask about a cigarette ember at the bridge during the last act of McCabe and Mrs Miller. I'd love to see a compilation of his homage and steals. To me, what sticks out is all the filmmakers today who copy the master.

Wife and I watched it on vacation. We'd hike all day, eat, soak in the hot tub and then stream this, an episode a day. At first we were thinking, are we really going to watch this. By the third episode we were absolutely enthralled! This series was wayyyy better than the movie. Canceling it made no sense.
