I've never heard anyone say anything negative about kecha wacha tbh

generally, the community seems to consider an endgame as something to grind for almost infinitely.

so, base world did have an endgame: decoration grinding. it wasn't a great endgame loop, people constantly complained how they were just fighting the same few monsters over and over (especially since 2 to 3 of the small elders were widely hated), but it was something.

this is also why kulve and safi were probably added: it gave the playerbase what they wanted, something else to grind near infinitely.

to my knowledge, there was also an endgame in rise at release (one which was also heavily criticised), that being charm hunting, as a lot of valuable skills didn't have decorations. but they added them all as decorations in updates, so now charms don't matter as much anymore, so people don't have anything to grind for anymore.

but I feel like that's just how it is with base releases. the basegame has a bad endgame, then the expansion adds in a ton to do. it happened with iceborne too, iceborne had a great endgame IMO.

I've heard plenty of people speak positively of malfestio, not even people who absolutely love it. it's a unique monster with tons of personality.

as for the other world fish, beotodus would be cool if it got a rework like jyuratodus, and I'd love lavasioth if they just reverted it back to how it was in gen. it used to be a lot more unique and fun to fight back then.

anyway, my point with that was that, if they brought back forgotten rarely seen monsters like lavasioth, monsters that hadn't been in a game for years like lunastra, and monsters that were actively made fun of for how lame they were like jyuratodus, anything can return (except girros), especially since the two fishes mentioned here weren't really needed. the elder's recess already has tons of monsters and rise already has two mud monsters.

there's other examples too of monsters that aren't necessarily forgotten or hated, but just not THAT popular, who returned recently. barroth, uragaan, basarios, royal ludroth, lagombi, volvidon, etc.

it also helps malfestio that it's a midgame monster, so it doesn't have to compete with many super popular monsters for space in the roster.

if malfestio gets added, it'll be in the expansion. they're not going to add a mid/early game monster in an update, which are all targeted towards endgame players, and they're not gonna rework it to be an late to endgame monster.

malfestio and any other monster weaker than a rathalos is definitely a 0% chance of happening for any update.

COMMENT 1d ago

I mean, malfestio seems like a monster that could return at some point. I'm pretty sure it's fairly well liked.

besides, it's not like they can fill the entire roster of each game with popular monsters, there's only so many super popular monsters out there, they have to start adding less popular monsters at some point (especially since fan favourites are generally lategame and endgame)

hey, we got lavasioth in world, they brought back lunastra after 10 years of absence, jyuratodus got brought back for rise... if these things can happen in recent years, anything can happen.

that said, you're probably right about girros, it's gonna be gone for a while. it was so forgotten people didn't even make fun of it for being forgettable. plus, it's exclusive to the vale, which I don't see them doing again in the near future.

personally don't like this. I don't want to do coop, I want to do it all solo, but I also want to be invaded sometimes, it's kindoff part of the experience for me personally. that slight panic when I'm unprepared, and I suddenly see the message that I'm being invaded, it's something I just won't see in elden ring if they don't change it, and that's unfortunate.

a player like me who doesn't play coop won't be getting any invasions, despite wanting to be invaded sometimes.

as others have suggested, a solution is to allow players to choose whether they want to be invaded solo. maybe through an item similar to embers or humanities (though unlike souls games, it wouldn't be needed for coop, just solo invasions), or maybe through a covenant. a setting would also work, though it'd be a bit more boring.

probably the same way a phantom limb works (you keep feeling a limb after you've lost it) except you haven't lost anything and it just feels like there's a part of the head that's not there and wasn't ever there.

why is the game called "big hats" though?!? I've played it several times, but that's still something that makes no sense to me. does anyone know?

never played demon's souls or ds2, so I can't say much about the bosses in those games. I've played ds1 once, but the other games I've played a ton of times, especially ds3 and sekiro.

Ds1: aside from the obvious pick of bed of chaos (who I would pick, but I wanna be more original) I think the boss I disliked the most was seath? like I said I only played it once. he's just really janky and not very fun to fight. capra demon's also not great.

bloodborne: easily micolash. he's a gimmick boss done wrong, where instead of it being a fun and weird but easy boss, it's a tedious boss that has a serious chance to kill you due to his magic attacks randomly dealing a ton of damage, making you have to do it all over again, which just isn't fun.

Ds3: probably crystal sage. it's not like he's that bad of a boss or anything, I just personally find him annoying. other than that, there's no bosses in ds3 I really dislike, but I guess ancient wyvern would be my second pick since he's not really a boss.

sekiro: double apes. double apes easily. double apes just doesn't work in a game like sekiro. basically, the way they work is that you've got two apes taking turns attacking you... but in a game where posture is more important than health, taking turns between two enemies just doesn't work. with double apes, you just have to cheese the female ape with firecrackers, hope you get to kill her, and then fight the main ape as if the female ape was never there, which kindoff goes against the point of a double boss.

it's not like them being a double boss is even interesting at all, even if it were in a game not about posture. they're just two bosses not designed for being fought in a pair, there's no interesting mechanics with them as a duo.

probably not. I mean, I get that one of dark souls 3's trailers showed the final boss, I doubt the first gameplay trailer would show the final boss.

if they were gonna show the final boss (I hope not though), it'd probably be in one of the later trailers.

fromsoft can keep the style while still looking as good as demon's souls, it's not one or the other. of course, that won't happen for elden ring since it's also for old gen, but you get what I mean. they'll keep their style when they get to the point where they'll look that good.

the demon's souls remake was made by a different company with little to no involvement by fromsoft, so they're obviously not gonna have the exact same style.

(not talking negatively about the remake, bluepoint did an incredible job)

I play on console so there's not much to upgrade. it's nice and simple for me.

COMMENT 10d ago

there was a fog gate at the deer in the trailer, so it'll most likely be a boss

remember that dark souls also has big trees, the arch trees. could just be referring to that.

the one I'm calling is called spoiler protection 2.0. it's not perfect, but it'll protect you most of the time.

COMMENT 12d ago

there's browser extensions that can block spoilers. those might be of help if you still want to use sites like youtube.

that said, atleast the one I'm using isn't perfect, but it's better than nothing.

COMMENT 13d ago

your question is answered in the gameplay trailer that we got a while ago: it looks great, but not as good as the demon's souls remake. probably because it'll also release on ps4 and xbox1.

there were two: one in a hidden area linking the start of the game and forbidden woods together, and one in the nightmare frontier.
