I have no trouble posting the cap, no. I prefer them off, generally, though.

I, too, have nice pens and stationery and cards begging to be used and a handwriting to practice and perfect.

Low pressure cards and letters exchange would be nice.

35/M/California here, if you're interested. 😊

Why prevent when we can attempt to cure and slam the hospitals while we're at it? 🤷🏻‍♂️

There's a major labor shortage across most industries right now. In the best of time, high quality engineers are already hard to come by. Now even more so.

Enjoy the leverage and get the best deal you can!

Personal responsibility wins above blanket mandates/lockdowns.

See, I would respect this position had it also been accompanied with a unified "use common sense approach and encourage masks/vaccines" front.

But the kneejerk is pooh-pooh the pandemic and be especially obtuse about vaccines and even going as far as encouraging weaponized misinformation.

So you see the left position using government apparatus to cajole the people to do what is needed. You don't like that method. Sure. You want to encourage each individual to take it upon themselves to see that collective action is needed here. Sure, I can respect that.

So do that. Encourage grassroot collective action to end this pandemic.

But noo .... Instead, the right wing decides to attack the underlying science and epidemiology. And when their models bear fruit, attack the conclusion by spreading conspiracy theories, instead. That's wildly irresponsible and I can't forgive that.

You want to have it both ways: come up with something that makes government's actions seem irrational AS WELL AS gives you excuse not to exercise any sort of personal responsibility at all. You want both the freedumb and NO personal responsibility. It's childish.

I sit in the center, most of the time, and the way the right behaves in this entire crisis is just beyond to pale for me.

I was referring to Ayn Rand's (self-first) philosophy, which she dubbed Objectivism.

No, I meant Ayn Rand's Objectivism.

And they created a situation where the party's survival is untenable without their support. It's a mess.

And the sad part is, the "leopards" he supported--Trumps et al--whose views he parroted and broadcasted to his audience, took the vaccines. A lot of anti-vaxx GOP politicians courting the populism wave don't even drink the koolaid themselves.

Valentine took the party lines to heart, drank the koolaid, and paid the price. Could've been avoided.

It's the dark side of extreme objectivism. Nothing matters but your own personal views and experiences, and so "experts" have no place in this worldview. At best, they're merely on equal footing with you.

A female having a job is a capital offense in the Taliban's book, apparently.

The goal has always been herd immunity. There are two ways to achieve it: vaccine-induced or naturally obtained immunity.

Personal responsibility! Rah!

They'd rather be imprisoned at home by their government rather than admitting they were wrong about the pandemic. 😑

1

COMMENT 5d ago

And this is the freedom not to wear masks or not getting vaxxed get you. Being constantly imprisoned at home because the pandemic won't end because your "freedumb" behavior helps spread it along. It's almost like actions have consequences, or something...

Congrats, Mississippi, you played yourself.

Not all polling places have long lines. Guess which districts typically are given fewer designated polling places, creating long lines?

One is a language, the other a framework.

That's what I'm saying. Ultimately the driving source is our society's puritanical values. That's what we need to change first, grassroots style.

Similar to mental health awareness. Startups in mental health providers didn't appear until recently when our discourse has shifted to begin de-stigmatizing it.

I read that a lot of venture capital is unable to invest in companies in the sex industry

IMO, this is what we need to fix first. Our society is so puritanical and sex negative it makes me sad.

For a totem that symbolizes a return to a power hegemony for an exclusive club of people like him.

Trump was just the one of the increasingly few people these days who dared to voice that desire.
