I use mostly red oak, maple, and walnut in my glue-ups but I don’t bend them or use fiberglass for added strength so I can’t speak to what you should use if you steam bend and want flex. Haven’t used bamboo yet. For straight glue-ups I do .625 thickness for boards up to 30 inches and .7 inches for boards from 31-36. Haven’t had a board snap yet. I use Tightbond 3 for glue. My boards are very stiff though with little to no flex. Go for thinner with fiberglass and you could probable get some ok flex like the comets.

Ha, true.

Yup, although I’m not sure if a closed press would allow the water to escape fully as the wood dries. Maybe from the sides. I’d ask around about that - I’ve only ever steam-bent wood with an open air vice type jig.

There are a couple ways to achieve this and neither are easy. The first is steaming or boiling to make the wood flexible enough to bend. You should go this before glue-up with each piece. You need a press or a form or some kind of leverage system to do this. There’s no guarantee the shape will hold completely but it’s probably the easiest of the ways to do it. The other is actually cutting the shape you want into each piece of the laminate. So rather than vertically laminating straight boards, you cut the side profile you want and laminate those. You’ll probably want to do this in a CNC or you’re going to have a lot of sanding. These two methods will give you a shape along the length of the board (like a kicktail) but not a concave. I have never seen a Comet board up close so I’m not sure if the wood is bent or cut to the curve (I’m guessing bent though), but they also use a type of fiberglass for strength and to help hold the the shape. Wood alone, unless it’s really thick (minimum .5 - .75 inch) won’t be strong enough. Especially if you try to Ollie it. It’ll split without a doubt.

I’m stating the difference between people too young to remember not knowing something and people who are old enough who have just forgotten. Those are two different things. That’s not gate keeping, “bro”.

Oh believe me, I feel old. But I think the question is about shows that were forgotten, amd you can’t remember them if you weren’t there. It’s not about being too young to know them. And I feel like most people 40 and older remember Night Court.

The weird thing is that Kramer was subletting his apartment from Paul from Mad About You but then George Costanza watches an episode of Mad about You.

I’m pretty far left of center. This attitude is not helping anyone. You don’t get to steal from someone just because they are a white man. That’s not how you get to equality.

This is a helpful book if you don’t have it already. I like his hybrid design with vertical lam on top and bottom and a few thin plies in the middle. Still a flat board but no reason you couldn’t modify that to be steamed with a rocker. https://www.amazon.com/Handmade-Skateboard-Longboard-Cruiser-Scratch/dp/1940611067/ref=nodl_
