I play for a living and I still fucking hate it. Practicing properly requires you to feel free enough to make mistakes so that you can learn from them. Somebody watching you/listening from another room turns it into a performance.

Weddings

My wife and I use each others' phones but I do clench up a bit when she uses my stuff and this is why. I really hate someone standing behind me when I'm working, or doing anything that's 'me time' like playing guitar or xbox or whatever. I always hated playing with my toys when adults were in the room as a kid, and have always automatically closed my laptop screen when someone walks in to the room because I hate having to answer questions like 'what are you working on.'

There's no reason for it. It's just who I am!
