Wash and rinse the walls, ceiling and trim with TSP.

Get two 5 gallon buckets of water and two sponges (the type used for grout work.) Put hot water and TSP in one bucket and clear water in the other. Wash the walls, ceiling and trip with the TSP solution and rise with the clear water. Replace the clear water often. A sponge mop can be helpful for doing the ceilings.

Not only will this get rid of the air freshener scent, it will also make the whole hose smell fresh. It is also excellent prep work for any painting you may want to do.

When you do go to paint, prime first with Kilz Restoration (formally "Kilz Max") It is a new latex based sealer for odors that works as well as the oil-based primers. Highly recommended, especially for odors.

Don't, however, be temped to skip the TSP wash. That is going to give you the best results regardless of what you do after that.
