I like how people seem to think that being liberal and disliking or not believing in Christianity means that we somehow like or won't talk about Muslims. I don't support either religion, but, if you're talking about which religion or religious group in the US is actually experiencing hate and bigotry, it's not Christians.

THIS. Tolerance does not mean tolerance of the intolerant. You're can have your opinion. You can even espouse your opinion, but we will not stay quiet and "tolerate" your intolerance of others.

That’s why over a hundred years ago one of their founders came up with the idea of 2 classes of JWs: those bound for heaven (144,000) and the rest which will live forever on a paradise earth.
Actually, the first iteration of that teaching was that JWs would be the heavenly class and everyone not a JW would be the earthly class. Once the number of JWs exceeded 144,000, they had to change their theology.
This time it morphed into the idea that only JWs will survive Armageddon and everyone else alive when Armageddon happens will be murdered by their vengeful god. If you were lucky enough to die anytime before Armageddon started and you weren’t a JW, you will be resurrected into their paradise and be given a chance to “change your ways” and serve their god. If you don’t, then you’re murdered by their vengeful god.
Their theology could make for an interesting dystopian book/movie.

Very true. Their founders had some interesting things to say about vaccines (and other modern medical procedures). They’ve since changed their stance. I was a JW until 5 years ago. It’s a cult by any definition I’ve seen. Other religions are too, but JWs and similar insular type religions take it to the extreme.
I can’t accurately describe the mental and physical (psychosomatic) pain I went through when I was first disfellowshipped (kicked out/shunned) 15 years ago. Losing every single social contact overnight is trauma that I’m still dealing with. I went back, but that scar is still there. I’m somewhat grateful for the experience because it was one of many steps that led me to leave them.

Democrats did as much damage as Republicans for sure. Corporate Democrats, which is most of them, were only progressive in comparison to their far-right Republican counterparts. It’s like comparing Mitt Romney to David Duke. Mitt would look like a progressive in comparison.

Actively encouraging it. They need to keep their people proselytizing because they sure aren’t encouraging them to have big families.

As others have said, only when you’ve hit stage 4 cancer or are passed out in a diabetic coma are they required to do anything. They certainly aren’t going to pay for your ongoing, life-saving medication. That’s what GoFundMe is for! /s

But how would we have lined the pockets of generational millionaires if we didn’t funnel money into the military industrial complex?? /s

I’m all for a new car. A 200+ year old document that hasn’t been amended in almost 30 years and that couldn’t even be amended to guarantee women equal rights has no place in modern times. It’s a dinosaur written for a bigoted time.

Well.. 60% of us anyway. 39% aren’t self-aware enough to realize they’re being fucked. As far as the 1%… well, someone has to do the fucking.

Oh yeah. Have someone in my friends list that regularly posts anti-vaxx rhetoric. He seems to think his stance on pro-choice somehow balances it out. It doesn’t. He also likes to appeal to authority because his “mom is a doctor.”

It could be that they didn’t have the correct processes in place to delete them or it’s possible they were served with a warrant to start collecting logs on him, although, if that was the case, you’d think they would have deleted that line from their terms as soon as they were forced to do this.
Edit: Nevermind, read the article more and realized that their terms were inaccurate just based on what they said they had access to from the start.

Slow drift back to the right. We had a few decades of very progressive ideas. Unfortunately, those with money didn’t like that and finally got the formula right to push us back to the right.

57% of Democrat voters said they were in favor of laws passing with a simple majority. The results were very different based on how the question was asked. If they asked if they wanted the filibuster filibuster abolished, it was 37% who wanted to keep it and 41% that said to abolish it. If they asked whether laws should pass with 60 votes or 51 votes, only 27% responded 60 votes and 57% responded 51 votes. It’s a dumb rule, especially when all you have to do is threaten to filibuster. It doesn’t foster discussion or anything that it’s thought to solve.

I despise American puritan culture. I was raised in a strict religion. I was taught that I was unworthy. I’ve dealt with self-esteem issues all my life. I remember European public TV having nudity being “proof” that we were in the end times.
I don’t understand how these fuckwits haven’t figured out that making something taboo just makes it more desirable. If we were all raised with nudity being normal, it would be.
Their constant wailing about the “degradation of morals” is ridiculous when taken in the context of history as a whole and especially the atrocities their own religion is responsible for.
This guy wants to talk about “righteous anger.” I guarantee I experienced much more righteous anger than he did after watching the video yesterday. American Taliban on full display lately.

Pretty sure the Republican leaders got everything in life, at least if all you’re concerned about is money, power, and self. They aren’t known for actually working.
