It's days to get it ADDED but hours to get it removed.

The problem is painting all of those NFL lines takes forever, getting them off is quick.

Literally everyone posted a link showing that it was gonna be on the ballot anyway.

Still seems to have a large popular mandate.

COMMENT 2d ago

I mean, this is a fairly simple analysis:

SoftBank execs thought they could do whatever the fuck they want, MLS said "no you can't" and they're fucking off.

SoftBank capital at the table, in my mind, is not a good thing. They're sharks that come in wherever they think they can make an easy dollar by breaking the rules.

Sources? For fuck’s sake no one is interested in real conversation here

You are incorrect.

The charter amendment initially made it onto the November ballot after a signature-gathering campaign collected 64,155 signatures, twice the amount required to qualify.

Took me 15 seconds to google that...

Turns out SPOG doesn't actually think Blue Lives Matter...

COMMENT 2d ago

I've had mixed feelings about the charter amendment; the city has suffered from a lack of clear objectives on the homelessness crisis and half asses every single solution they've tried so the clarity was nice.

I didn't like that it was a charter amendment though - there needs to be some flexibility in these things.

Hopefully, the public mandate from the charter gets SCC and mayoral candidates off their asses to take this problem seriously.

I've said this before about InterMiami: Getting the SoftBank guys out is a good thing.

SoftBank makes it's money breaking rules. Grab, DoorDash, WeWork, Uber, Didi; if it's made money breaking regulations in the last 10 years, SoftBank has it's money in it.

They also operate under the central principal of throwing a lot of money at a problem and trying to get it to 100x in valuation - sometimes just by the nature of having the SoftBank name in front of it.

The SoftBank MO is the exact antithesis of MLS. SoftBank is high risk, high reward, break the rules. MLS is minimize risk, steady growth, follow all 1000 of the rules. Having spent a decade being professionally involved in the VC space, I can almost guarantee that the dumb shit Miami did was probably encouraged or explicitly enabled by the SoftBank guys.

Goldman isn't an ideal owner of a team, but SoftBank is worse.

I think you guys think you have a deeper bench then you actually do - it doesn't help to sub in players that aren't going to make an impact.

This is all speculating and we'll see what happens with the interim coach.

COMMENT 2d ago

He has subbed the least of any coach in the mls this year, he basically makes 0 changes during the game.

Feels like more of a depth issue then a coaching issue TBH. RSL is near the bottom of the salary spending list

COMMENT 2d ago

There's only 2 signings in 2021 that have more then 5 games played for RSL. They seem to be productive signings, but I'm hard pressed to call 2 good signings a massively improved bench.

I, too, would like a passport to the magical land of flavor Basil.

I mean not the only 2 constants... the owners that have enabled Greg and Rachel to stay onboard are also constants.

COMMENT 2d ago

To borrow the old Colbert joke, this is quite obviously rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

The Whitecaps are going to be shit as long as they have shit owners.

1

COMMENT 2d ago

Can the RSL fans please explain in a bit more detail why he's so liked?

Honestly, having a team at the bottom of the salary spending list in playoff position after RSL's 2020 is fucking impressive.

Atlanta is proof positive you can have a decent FO but fuck it all up on the pitch; I have to think that Freddy was part of the RSL success this year.

Honestly, I think RSL fans are a little too bullish on their roster strength. I think keeping a team that went from screaming racist owner to no owner in playoff position is really impressive, especially considering they're at the bottom of the salary spending list.

RSL had built a really good program in spite of their ownership, and the reason we're poaching so many folks is because they had a lot of good ones that are fleeing the ship. RSL still isn't out of the ownership debacle; and the next owner that comes in will look to stamp their identity on the club by cleaning house.

I suspect that the logic here is take the strongest opportunistic hire for the first A spot; and leave the second A spot open for a little longer to play the field some more. If Freddy doesn't work out, buy him out after a year when we're not so crushed for As.

My sincere hope is that we keep this as an annual thing in Seattle and it gets added as a mainstay to the Timbers/Thorns doubleheaders you've had in Portland as well.

That way, everyone gets some nightmare eventually.

While I'm going to miss the heck out of Gonzo and Djimi, because of how damn good they made this team I was never worried about finding good replacements.

Seems that was well placed confidence.

Haven't seen anything posted with details about this upcoming weekend, and it's shaping up to be fucking insane.

Should be a fantastic double header day of soccer. Two Seattle-Portland derbies in the same venue is a dream.

Hopefully he's in town for the big game this weekend, and since it's exceptionally unlikely he makes the 18, I hope he gets a chance to enjoy the atmosphere and get hyped.

It would be a great introduction to the club.

Make the bonus bigger?

Like if MLS actually believes this is a massive growth opportunity for the league, pay the damn players for being a part of it.

If this is part of a multi-million dollar growth strategy for the league, give the players a bit more of that multi-million dollars.

3

COMMENT 5d ago

Hot take: They should be paying players more for this.

If all of these players are making the business decision to sit out, make the business decision to pay them more.

Either scrap the game

I mean, yes please.

God, it was terrifying to see just how science illiterate people are.

Science is not just what the CDC, a semi-political organization with many proven faults, says.

Science is not just personal health, it's also the science of public health policy which everyone also seemed to forget (including the CDC for some fucking reason).

And science does not predict the behavior of an evolving virus for the rest of eternity.

The vaccines are amazing and everyone should get them but understanding their limitations is not anti-science.

Pop-science ruined hard science.
