I just has to change up my Internet and WiFi setup in my business and my smart plugs and switches were no longer connecting to my guest WiFi. I had to remove everything and use a different WiFi (normally I just replicate the ssid and passphrase) now not everything is adding back Google home, and what is there is not functioning properly.
Currently I have plugs and a switch from Kasa, a switch I use through smart life app, and lights from Avatar.
Is there a smart home app that will link all of them the way Google home did?
I use Home Assistant to monitor and/or control my whole house; lights, hvac, home theater, cameras, 3d printer, etc. It’s not only secure open source software, it also uses its clout to fight companies that want to strip their devices of local APIs so they can charge for cloud services; see tp-link, Phillips Hue, and mazda to name a few.
I know your Kasa stuff will work through it but I don’t know the others but at this point most stuff that can work with home automation does work with home assistant.
I second home assistant, I love my setup.
I would choose Home Assistant over Google Home even if I wasn’t trying to de-Google. It’s just a far superior home automation platform.
I was able to get the avatar stuff into smart life (which appears to be a hub itself), but Kasa will not play. Checking out home assistant, thank you.
Home Assistant user here as well. I don’t think anything in the home automation space can compete with it. It’s open source, super versatile and works with most IoT devices on the market easily in a way that protects privacy.
I’m using Zigbee devices. Once I’ve been able to buy all the hardware I want and got everything set up with voice control via Bluetooth I plan to disconnect my pi with it on from my network so HA runs entirely locally.
