Lynx launcher has the best implementation of swipe down to search, the closest I’ve seen to iPhone’s Spotlight search.

Both search and app drawer are loaded extremely spoothly and seamlessly.

The launcher is also very lightweight and custmomizable especially if you buy the paid version.

Another cool feature is that it supports vertical dock.

Do navigation gestures still work if you use a third party launcher? There was a time when it broke the animations and the gestures became clunky.

Yes all gestures work without any issues. At least in my experience…

Against my own will I am currently stuck on an iphone (had an unused 8 laying somewhere that throughout the years got in my possession but I completely avoided, until both my Androids broke in a week from eachother and I temporarily am stuck to use the iphone), and however much I hate iphones, I always gave them that one advantage, which was “they are like tv remotes: you don’t need to know how they work to make them work and they will do basic functionality perfectly.” (Where Android is so spread out that any bug can happen, depending on what phone you have.)

Well, having used the iphone and actually on a daily basis having experienced the need to get things done on it, I really must say that even basic functionality isn’t as smooth as it always seemed to be from a distance before. I have had problems throughout any basic functionality on this , even the top-pull search mentioned. On that iphone 8 there were a bunch of times it did not find the installed app or linked to the app store to go install it while it was already installed. Admitted that it works most of the time, it’s still far from perfect and has brought me to annoyances at times I needed it to just work too, so even that ‘advantage’ over Android was just an illusion by Android users like me avoiding actual use of iphones.

I have no doubt functioning Android apps that actually don’t bug out are achievable and would top iphone stuff with ease…
