The people asking that question with a straight face won’t believe you that those morgue trucks existed, just like they didn’t believe Covid existed or was worse than the flu.

Only motherfuckers that ask me this own fucking businesses. I dont give a fuck that you love Rubepublican handouts. People died, a lot of people died. We were not better just because your business was taxed less.

The past is a different country, they do things differently back then.

But seriously, 4 years ago was the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. How the FUCK do they forget something like that?

You can’t really compare anything like that to COVID times though.

Also did you post this in the wrong sub?

Actually I follow politics quite closely. I’m just wondering who is asking about the prosperous time of the Pandemic in good faith? I’ve literally not heard a single person that claims 4 years ago was better in any regard.

Trump says in every rally that we were better when he was president. That was 4 years ago. So, him and his whole MAGA following.

Ah, there’s the issue. He never does anything in good faith.

Except maybe kiss himself in the mirror, not sure.

This is a very common question used in politics, particularly for conservatives, anytime they are running against an incumbent. The implication is that yes it was better four years ago. That is exactly what the Trump campaign says. In fact he specifically has said that four years ago covid was completely under control and fading. That he had done a Monumental job. I’m very much surprised you weren’t aware of this.

Not the VP debate, presidential. And yes, I can leave my home now, and my friends and family aren’t dying from a mysterious pandemic while stores and restaurants are closing, and streets are overrun with body storage. I can travel again (albeit maybe not on a Boeing Max), and see people in person. While there are still PLENTY of problems to address, I’m better off than four years ago.

The Republican candidate lied that Americans were making more money and that Republican policies reduce inflation. Apparently it’s ok to just lie.

You have this community in your feed but don’t grasp the context of this question? C’mon, son.

It’s federated to my instance. I didn’t choose it. No, I don’t understand the context of the question because none was given. Who is genuinely asking if 4 years ago, during the height of the pandemic, was better than today? In what context were Americans more prosperous in October 2020 than in October 2024?
