Oh man, I “love” when I’m doorknocking, and the person names which party’s candidate they’re voting in as mayor, but it’s a federal election and the municipal elections are non-partisan anyway. Unfortunately, democracy has always worked a bit like that. I used to think direct democracy would be great, but at this point I’m glad there’s a certain arms-length separation between power and the actual public.
They’re a little too accommodating of the PP waterfall-of-alternative-facts style of campaigning, for sure. The trucker thing never comes up when he says he was never MAGA. It really should, because it’s highly relevant. If people aren’t falling for it anyway, that’s great news.
But, I think I have do a bit of a nitpick here. Carney hasn’t been elected yet, and PP is pretty much open that he doesn’t want a security clearance for partisan reasons. It’s just that Carney’s in an election right now, and not learning the truth to criticise better is insane.
It’s usually in the context of him as PM when they bring up that he’s unelected but yeah I see your point.
Even my friends post all about Carney on Facebook but I know they don’t know they don’t directly vote for him and their riding has been Conservative with a non-liberal coming in as the second party for the last few federal cycles. Voting liberal in service of Carney won’t get them anywhere and they don’t know this.
