Socially, the Greens stand exactly where the “Social Democrats” stand. They co-authored the unprecedented social cutbacks of the Schröder era, which brought Germany where it is today. They are a party of privileged academics who are fine with easing their ecological conscience on the backs of people with lower income. And the Left still has Putin bootlicker vibes (they call it “peace”), even though the worst Putin bootlickers left them to form their own party.
But the Left and Greens are in opposition — this is a chance. Hopefully they are able to mobilise as well in the coming years.
