it’s an android app that lets you automate almost anything on your phone/android system. downsides are it’s a pay app, not foss, and fairly complicated to set up at first. upsides are it is almost unlimited with what you can automate. looks like there is a free trial. might be a lemmy-instance for it, (there’s a reddit sub) disclaimer; i haven’t used it for a while now on older android releases.

  • I swear I’ve seen this before, like pre-YouTube or circa 2001. i even remember the woman only lasting a few minutes on the forum that was scrutinizing it because she didn’t seem to be aware of trolls. if this is a recent interview then maybe it was done as some sort of homage. only way i would have come across it back then was if someone threw up a link in general chat on pirat4x4.

  • After reading the “issues” discussion from w weeks ago, this is just an idea at this point. The simplemobiletools fork was a mock up for something that sounds like its very much in the planning/ideas stage. you can also go to fossify.org to see another mock up that does nothing right now. You could message one of them, but I think maybe its some MIT software team / group & their just tossing ideas around for a foss hub of sorts.

  • I love mango especially because it can be frozen & it doesn’t breakdown the texture nor the flavour. It one of the only frozen fruits I can get from grocery store that I can eat out of the package (vs. most frozen fruit is only good for smoothies etc IMO). My favorite is plums, but only from my granma’s tree. Nothing sold in stores would ever be labeled “plum” if it were up to me. I also like pineapple alot. Apples, oranges, peaches, while sometimes store bought you might get a good one once in a while, homegrown (or local…basically fresh) fruit has no equal. But i practically live off fruit except during the 3 winter months.

  • I can tell you really want that to be true, but the bots posting links to “elsewhere” articles with a summary or TLDR that reads like it’s been run thru 15 really crappy language translators & fail to even make sense let alone properly summarize the pertinent details - yeah that’s what drives me away. I’m prolly a fringe user, my primary use is to satisfy my hobbyist/DIY addictions, & I enjoy being able to read & learn in the same place/format. I generally have little interest in the social media/what’s trending or political subs. I used to appreciate seeing occasional posts from the social/politics but they are so toxic & devoid of any conversation that might interest me. I’m really hoping that the humans that are still out in the real world doing amazing things will find their way to federated freedom so I can selfishly return to my daily realization of how little I know. Because those bot posts coupled with all the ignorant hate comments have the opposite effect - I start feeling like there’s nothing left to learn here…

  • I’ve been curious about this subject (increasing or decreasing the planet’s mass) & wanting a real fact based explanation. The fact that man has built structures that had a measureable impact to Earth’s tilt indicate that there is a calcuable figure that represents the effect that the cumulative mass being removed from close to Earth’s core/surface & shifted into orbit or pushed out of the planet’s gravitational field has/will have. I’ve got no idea ehat the impact would be, but at some point reducing the mass of a spinning object has to result in changes. How many non-returning ships sent off-planet does it take to reduce the gravitational field of Earth? Does it impact Earth’s orbit around the Sun? And inversely, how much off-planet mined materials brought here before …idk - Earth’s gravity is increased? Assuming the # is “real”, shouldn’t we be determining how much can be mined on the moon & brought here? Better now than waiting until the next environmental crisis headlines read “Moon weight loss has lead to extreme ellipse-ing of it’s orbit: expect even more monumental tidal extremes!”. Again, I don’t know what the real impact would be, I made this last bit up for dramatic effect/illustrate my question.
