Es ist nicht wichtig ob die Geste denn nun wirklich 100% dem Gruß den die Nazis tatsächlich gemacht haben gleicht, was wichtig ist, ist das rechtsextreme Propagandisten eine Geste machen die klar in einer Kontinuität mit dem Nationalsozialismus steht. Was Musk und Bannon da gemacht haben, gehört einfach zum kulturellen Phänomen ‘Hitlergruß’, und trägt zur immer fortschreitenden Normalisierung rechtsextremer Äußerungen bei.

Doing the Hitler salute used to make you a pariah. Now, it’s just a thing the extreme right does to ‘provoke’ (that word I saw used to describe Bannon’s salute in a German newspaper title). In a couple of years, it is normal that the right does this, and the established media doesn’t bat an eye anymore.

It’s clear that you still can’t trust established media to be a force against nazism. They’ll start analysing the nazi takeover as nazi only when it’s much too late, out of fear of not being ‘neutral’.

Using that flag is also a bit of a football hooligan thing, right?

Man sollte hier eigentlich immer nur über ‘sogenannte Redefreiheit’ reden.

There’s a place for both. I like the abstraction of regular tri/bicolours, and I also like the added detail of coats of arms or other emblems.

In the case of the Union Jack it doesn’t really work at all, though. I think it detracts from the interesting construction of the flag.

I also don’t like this Palestinian flag. The eagle looks off-center because of the triangle, but if you were to put it in the center between the triangle and the end of the flag (I’m not really familiar with flag jargon), it’d probably still look off-center. That, and the flag re-appearing in the emblem gives a bit of an annoying Droste-effect (might want to add the eagle in the emblem as well, with another flag with another eagle, with another flag…).

Spain?

This isn’t a new position. Putin has already said years back that he doesn’t care if Ukraine joins the EU.

Yeah, in that case I understand.

I get Hungary, but you’d expect all constructive countries to be invited.

Saudi Arabia isn’t an ICC member state, though, so they don’t have to comply with the warrant (probably part of why they picked Saudi Arabia).

If they want Europe to enforce the peace in Ukraine, a ‘deal’ without Europe is meaningless as well (you’d hope, anyway. Otherwise the European establishment would agree with America treating Europe like their bitch).

Dann braucht es natürlich noch eine Säuberung in den eigenen Reihen.

I’ll share a somewhat relevant Dutch song from the German occupation. The NSB was the main Dutch nazi party collaborating with the Germans, Volk en Vaderland (People and Fatherland) was their newspaper.

On the corner of the street stands a Pharisee

With a newspaper in his hand he’s peddling his wares

He sells his People and Fatherland for six lousy cents

Right, some of us are swamp Germans!

Did he do it with FACTS and LOGIC?

They seem to only have a rule against dehumanisation of minorities, where the term is pretty clearly intended to mean minorities generally subject to persecution/bigotry:

4. No bigotry, sexism, racism, antisemitism, dehumanization of minorities, or glorification of National Socialism.

I feel the ban is a bit over the top, anyway. I get the post being removed for being a bit too aggressive, but to immediately ban over (what I presume) is a first offence… I’d simply give a warning myself.

Then we’ll have to conquer Russia and convince China to rename itself Eastasia.
