Christians have an utter landslide of reasons to believe the most outlandish of complete nonsense, but I’ve always been a fan of science, facts, and reality.
So I thank you. <3

I think I’ll refrain from posting a pic here, but mom had a ‘plant-bent’ that she followed up on by eventually becoming a certified ‘master gardener’ via series of courses.
In parallel with that, over the course of many years, mom took the little suburban backyard we had and transformed it in to… holy Willy Wonkas… a sort of ‘lush paradise,’ and with each square foot or so, it consisted of generally non-native, fascinating species. I.e., plants with interesting herbal qualities, incredible flowers, or whatnot.
Earlier, we’d rescued two stray cats, and it was really fun seeing them go back outside and frolic in mom’s garden. Hahaha, it was like an amusement park to them, one in which they became undeniably blissful and non-argumentative. (see, they didn’t like each too much, despite being sister littermates)
Where as tofu is rather efficient at only 80 kcal per 100g.
Tofu is a heavily-processed “food,” so it’s the last thing I’d be holding up as any kind of standard, here.
OK, maybe I’m wrong, but that seems to be a MASSIVE miscomprehension of the relationship between West Germanic and olde French.
In fact, modern German is arguably EASIER to learn for English-speakers due to all the common grammar and sentence structure.
you’re claiming that they’re misusing the anti-CSAM feature to remove comments from the modlog
Right, that was one aspect of that, but at the end of the day?
What ML has clearly done is to fuck with the integrity of the Lemmy-sphere across multiple, fundamental levels, and that’s what I and many others find completely unacceptable, and have of course stated as much.
Seriously, how is it even possible that you’re browsing the FV and haven’t seen this shit…?
Yes, yes-- I get the fact that you’re a ‘self-declared weirdo!’ “Big proponent for killing all cis men! Token Trotskyite!”
You DO understand of course that civilisation is collapsing fast, much of it due to our bloody inactions, is it not…?
Absolutely.
I will make it a special point tomorrow to look up the many, many posts upon that matter made in the last couple days across the FV.
One also wonders what people like you were doing in the meantime, but never fear-- please DO add on with any more requests for such information in the coming days. I will be happy to do the lookups and get back to you. ^^
as far as im aware there is no evidence that anyone has misused this specific admin power
In that case, then congrats for living in your own little delirium, apart from the many, many reports people have made reporting those specific abuses.
Well then, good for you.
Meanwhile, there’s been a legion of solid users here pointing out across the FV that the ML has in fact been abusing its admin powers, or did you think that the whataboutism of CSA would somehow, magically erase that shizzle?
If so, then shame on you.
That’s fine on ‘paper,’ but can you seriously not understand how it’s being shamelessly abused on the Tankie / ML front?
It’s more than just that IMO. It’s breaking the stated aim of open federation by tampering with comments, posts and mod records, which in turn get propagated or de-propagated to connected instances, right?
Yes, you may say that ML is of course free to screw with their own instance, but 1) one instance (particular a significant one like ML) affects other instances, and 2) they’re breaking the spirit of their own software by shamelessly abusing admin powers, in turn helping to normalize that behavior to the Lemmy side of the FV.
What’s the point of leaving oppressive, commercial social media only to run in to the same kinds of abuse of power on a supposedly transparent, user-run, P2P social network?
the devs have absolutely no say over how the software being used
It seems like they have some strong say when it comes to their own instance. According to some recent posts, ML admins (and maybe even mods?) have the ability to erase any record of mod actions, for example disappearing critique of the CCP’s brutal actions in Tiananmen Square that were posted on ML. That left no record in the public mod logs, and the users were never informed that their contributions had been (completely) deleted.
I’m only a 1yr Lemming myself, but I never saw such a critique aimed at any other instance, hence why I’m skeptical that the devs don’t have influence over how the software is used.
Cheesesteak, bingo. A greasy, unhealthy steak sandwich with lots of cheese… or cheese-product, haha.
Never heard of pork & greens being a Philly thing, especially. Scrapple’s pretty good when made right, sort of like smashed “homefry” potatoes, but the ingredients are kinda nasty, like hotdogs, etc.
Yeap, I was going to suggest that the runaways went on to produce such fine masterpieces as Sigmund and Cha-Ka & friends.
…require knife & fork.
Sort of…
Depending on the company and setting, perhaps. But they can still be eaten with hands, provided there’s a napkin and preferably a little water around, afterwards.
As someone who grew up in Philly, we have a local/regional sandwich that’s a whole lot messier than that Chicago one. I think once or twice in my life did I see someone eating it with a knife and fork, and I suspect they were from out of town.
I may be missing something here
I would guess Larson wasn’t a fan, and thought that “new age” practices were mainly performative and non-productive, leading practitioners to get stuck in repetitive little circles, getting nothing done in the end.
If so, it’s a pretty cynical take IMO, and certainly one of his more personal, brassy ones.
I sort of accidentally discovered that when dining at the local cantina.
The restaurant did something neat in serving an appetizer of guacamole on top of pico de gallo. For whatever reason I decided to dump the whole thing in to the bowl of spicy, chicken-black bean soup I was having. The contrast in flavors, and cooked vs fresh, spicy vs cool was an instant game changer. Indeed, I never looked back from there.
I… am both dumbfounded and grateful that you appreciate our community, Rolando. <3
Can someone explain this one for me?
Apart from the algorithm-angle, I kind of enjoyed it as an analogue to institutions like Christianity. Think of the formula as a typical sculpture of Christ on the cross-- commonly revered by millions, but at its heart, something which doesn’t add up in today’s world, leading millions of slavish worshippers astray over and over again.
(haha, and yes, that was a cynical interpretation indeed)
Where would I even find Mastodon content, being logged in on Lemmy?
The instances / servers don’t seem to auto-populate here, so would I need to subscribe to something?
