Keep it light, keep it moving.
I am doing no harm.
I don’t, but I’ve suspected that’s what I’m supposed to do if I ever do it. Lol
Yeah, although some languages can be used for practically anything, including JS. Some people program microchips with it. Lol
Some people can’t turn off their inner monologue?
Apparently not. I struggled with that as a kid and I remember having some sleepless nights when my head would be yapping nonstop. Then one day I learned to stop it.
But I mostly remember this in threads where people on either side of the inner monologue vs no inner monologue discussions discover the opposite exists. And so I’m like, what, you guys can’t just turn it on or off? I’ve concluded that we must be in the third group looking on, who can do either at will.
I can turn off my inner monologue at will. Complete silence but it limits the complexity of my thoughts.
Nice! I made an almost full recreation of Settlers of Catan in 3D complete with multiplayer. But it now sits somewhere on my hard drive due to copyright and platform concerns (I set it aside during the Unity scare). It almost landed me a shitty, low-paying job so there’s that.
Yes, but imagine trains but worse! Why aren’t you excited??
Oh yeah. The number 9 is superstitious in some East Asian cultures, like the Chinese. Its pronunciation is similar to “unlucky” or “suffering” so people try not to use it, like some buildings skip the 13th floor. But it’s not unique. In Japan, the numbers 4 and 7 sound like death so they use alternative pronunciations. Another popular Asian belief similar to Astrology divinates personalities based on blood types.
Since Windows is a global product, MS execs decided to skip the number due to cultural sensitivity. They also wanted to close the gap with the Mac versioning and present it as a big improvement over Win 8, so it was probably a strategic decision for various reasons.
Dancing Queen by Abba: “Fuck my drag, right?”
It’s simple: Ain’t nobody got time for your bullshit, Microsoft.
Oh, take notes for the history books is what I meant.
Most places in the theocratic kleptocracy of Magastan, I assume; a few places (or circumstances) in the civilised world
Places including IRL and online spaces. Anywhere, from businesses and public chats to online videos. Quite a lot of media we consume also needs to be swear-free and that rubs off. It’s no coincidence “unalive” and “grape” have become a thing on TikTok and elsewhere. There’s a surprising amount of censorship around us. And even if it’s not a written rule, it’s generally frowned upon to curse. I don’t know of a place that encourages cursing but an overwhelming number that discourage it.
Using most of the word but censoring one of the letters, however, is so utterly stupid and hypocritical that it’s insulting both to the readers and the writer. You’re still using the word, just with an intentional typo. You’re not lying to anyone except yourself.
Sure, but I’m not encouraging any of that.
It’s a tool that can be abused, just like with rhetoric. Instead, you could @ the OPs to modify their posts.
On a more personal level, I think any parent would’ve given that pardon if they felt their child was targeted for their political career. I think he would’ve always regretted not putting his pride aside. On a political level, holy shit. Brace yourselves, folks, and take lots of notes.
And then proceed to stare them down.
I think he was going to do that regardless and come up with a bullshit excuse. Now he doesn’t need a bullshit excuse and he’s still going to do it. Big deal.
A lot of behaviors are learned and people have learned that using profanity in most places gets you in trouble. I don’t think it’s fair to berate anyone for what is essentially a social expectation in many other circles.
Good thing Lemmy isn’t like that. But, please, lighten the fuck up.
The orcas started wearing dead salmon hats again after 37 years, so humans started memeing the orcas’ meme in turn.
