I would say Trump might deserve some of the blame for the pandemic because he cut the CDC’s pandemic response funding in the 1st or 2nd year of his term.

I don’t remember where I saw it, but I watched a video about different exo-planets. One that stuck out to me was a planet that had miles of ice but possibly also a liquid water ocean underneath. If intelligent life evolved down there, they would probably have no clue about the wider universe and think their world is all that exists. Imagine such a being’s reaction if they ever drilled up through the ice. I feel like this could be turned into a good sci-fi book.

It should probably be expected that any country with the means will interfere in other countries elections. What bothered me most in 2016 was not so much what Russia did, but that we didn’t seem to have much of a response to it. And yes can we please support democracy and not authoritarians. I feel like the whole cold war was about capitalism vs communism when it should have been about democracy vs authoritarianism.

I don’t know much about investing, but i wonder if it would it be a good time to short those companies?

I remember a documentary about a famous northwest passage expedition that was never seen again. One of the inuit people they talked to during an investigation claimed they found a boat, and in the captain’s quarters they found a body in the bed with a big smile on its face. That would be absolutely terrifying, but apparently that’s what naturally happens to corpses when their lips and gums receed.

This is what the passive income 1% crowd tell the rest of us.

I wonder how much more energy it took to accomplish that compared to just shooting a rocket. Last I had heard railguns weren’t really feasible because of the absurd amount of energy they would require even with perfect efficiency.

For me, every time it suggests the correct base word, it gets the ending wrong, so I have to type out the whole word anyway. For example, if I want past tense it’ll suggest the present tense of the word.

I never thought about it that way. Basically any algorithm that sorts posts could be argued to be censorship. But you can’t sort based on straight vote either because of fake accounts and bots. I guess we are just doomed to be manipulated.

For me there’s a certain amount of stress relief when I feel good contact with the ball. It can also be fun to try to be accurate the same as with other games like darts.

That’s a much taller order than you make it sound. It’d probably be easier to figure out fusion.

Fusion is the first step to a post scarcity world. All the new technology, products, agriculture methods, ect. that would be made possible with abundant, clean energy would completely transform the world. I doubt solar and wind could ever provide enough to make those advances.

I can’t remember a specific example, but that does sound familiar. I remember someone claiming a possible reason for their strength was that slavers would breed slaves like animals for certain traits.

So all war is genocide by that definition.

There is a combination of sounds that could perfectly describe advanced technology capable of ending world hunger and suffering. Verbal communication is like spells. All words have an effect on our mind and emotions, it’s just that most word’s effects are too small to notice. There could be some perfect combination of words that resonate with everyone and brings about world peace.

To me, it’s not about being fully automatic or how fast they fire. It’s about how many rounds it can hold. Hunters wait for the animal to get close enough, then fire hopefully just one shot maybe two if the animal is still alive after its tracked down. No hunter is unloading 30 round clips at an animal.

Occam’s razor is choosing the simplest answer. There is no simple answer when it comes to teleportation. I’m not sure there is a full break in consciousness when we sleep. Consciousness may not even be the right word…

In this case I’m not defining consciousness as simply being awake, but instead defining it as the perspective from which each individual perceives the universe.

That sounds like a form of last Thursdayism. The entire universe could’ve been created last Thursday with everything made to seem older, including everyone’s memories. These philosophies are usually shot down by occam’s razor.

If you make a perfectly exact replica of yourself do you suddenly perceive the universe from two perspectives?
