Today I tried to host a large language model locally on my windows PC. It worked surprisingly successfull (I’m unsing LMStudio, it’s really easy, it even download the models for you). The most models i tried out worked really good (of cause it isn’t gpt-4 but much better than I thought), but in the end I discuss 30 minutes with one of the models, that it runs local and can’t do the work in the background at a server that is always online. It tried to suggest me, that I should trust it, and it would generate a Dropbox when it is finish.

Of cause this is probably caused by the adaption of the model from a model that is doing a similiar service (I guess), but it was a funny conversation.

And if I want a infinite repetition of a single work, only my PC-Hardware will prevent me from that and no dumb service agreement.

Even if the are more efficient, they earned the regarding profit for a small number of people, who has to much. For the society it is a loose loose. The services become more expensive and it lead to a redistribution of wealth from poor to rich, whitch is even worse for the society and the economy.

Perhaps they are afraid of sitting next to someone from Sweden who eats Surströming.

Maybe you prefer to block a second seat, when you sit on a two person bank. ^^

Problembewusstsein der Bevölkerung wäre auch ein ziemlich dummes Maß. Das wäre so, als ob man Studien vollständig durch Umfragen ersetzt.

Und natürlich ist der Klimawandel das größte Problem unserer und jeder anderen Gesellschaft auf der Erde. Welches andere hätte denn vergleichsweise katastrophale Folgen und wird gleichzeitig so ineffektiv (beziehungsweise lustlos) bekämpft. Für welche potentiell derart zerstörerische Bedrohung ist es denn ähnlich zu spät, um endlich zu reagieren?

Anscheinend legen wir hier unterschiedliche Maßstäbe an, aber im Ernst, ich wäre wirklich interessiert, welches Problem deiner Meinung nach den Klimawandel schlägt.

Es geht dabei nicht darum, was du persönlich tust (so lobenswert das auch ist), sondern was das Größte Problem unserer Gesellschaft ist. Und das ist nunmal realistisch gesprochen der Klimawandel.

Was die Gefahr angeht. Ich denke es macht Psyvhologisch schon einen großen Unterschied, ob es um Gefahr für das eigene Leben geht oder um die Gefahr eines ernsthaften Sachschaden. Mir fielen etliche Beispiele ein für Menschen, die ohne darüber nachzudenken mit über 200 über die Autobahn rasen, aber auf der anderen Seite beim Ausparken so behutsam mit dem Auto umgehen, wie mit einem Neugeborenen.

Natürlich bräuchte es mal ein paar Studien, um die Psychologie dahinter zu erschließen.

Jein. Die Autos werden leider immer größer. Einen großen SUV hält ein Bordstein nicht auf. Die Autofahrer holen sich das ja gerade, weil sie sich keine Gedanken um sowas machen müssen.

Natürlich muss man irgendeinen Kompromiss finden, aber alles was unter dem Risiko eines deutlichen Schadens für das Auto liegt würde leider vermutlich häufig willentlich oder unwillentlich ignoriert werden.
