Well, the LoRa frequency differs from continent to continent: telling me you are in North America.
Also we don’t have the need for a civil-war post-apocalyptic, wasteland communication that cannot be tracked 😅. It is more an American thing to prep for.

Having some nodes myself: it is a nice gadget and even works with ATAK.
But without proper purpose, participants and a plan of communications it is still only a gadget.
E.g. if you only sit alone in your apartment and think they’ll come in handy when the power is gone, you’re mistaken. Spread devices among your mutuals, set up channels and speak about how you plan to use them.
Also, even though the messages are encrypted, be aware that each device sends a unique ID and can still be easily tracked down by professionals.
What a monster. Took away all the children…
I suppose this obsession about eggs is American.

Yip, got a stationary (solar) and a mobile node.
T-Beam with increased battery capacity and a T-echo with increased battery in a new casing.
But it is actually more for hobby (paintball/airsoft) than for prepping.
Pretty much TEOTWAWKI with american focus.
Need to have the TOS in mind on this one.
When you look at a community in a browser, the sidebar should show subscribe.
I would refrain from making it available. For one, there are already plenty of sources for people who would like to get invested. The other thing is, that such a huge collection needs to be sighted, understood and sieved to have purpose for individuals/the recipient.
My point of view is, that a pile of redundant documents could make things worse because it is not easily digestable.
Do you have something particular on for your community?
Also, don’t hesitate to crosspost.
Yea, I asked the question days ago, before that influx.
In the meantine I went in and posted/reorganized some stuff.
Gonna lock this post.
In a sentiment of creating an easy landig page I posted Lemmy at a glance.
The post might be useful for onboarding friends and stranges.
Hey, thanks. The other communities might also fit perfectly in a

Without seeing that exodus I bascially agree with you. But to be realistic, we set this about 2 years ago.
For example a major reddit community I was with, decided to go with telegram instead of something sane like matrix 😬 I fear lemmy is -for now- simply and sadly not first choice.
Due to the feeling of this place being abandoned, I was about to leave to other shores and close my account.
I can keep it up, but preferably I would step down as moderator (but not without a proper successor).

Yea, who would have thought, that a N*-salute and unjust culling of social welfare and security systems could damage a brand…
It is a little sad, that only VW sales are reported to go up. I am a big fan of smaller affordable SEVs like Renault’s Zoe, the new R5 and Opel’s Corsa Electric, but I guess they are simply not in the same league.
We do not have any traffic here and I don’t know if the other mods are still around. Maybe it is just best to cut ties.

My gut feeling (and reading about current weapon sales) says the 2024 numbers are way lower. We had so many domestic contracts for Rheinmetall, BAE, SAAB, Thales, … and the smaller companies.
I’m also trying to use Here WeGo for turn by turn navigation.
I tested all the other contenders (OSM And, Organic Maps, Magic Earth) and some seem to be best for outdoor activities (hiking, biking, OSM And), others do good for commuting (Here WeGo).
The other problem you mentioned is, that sadly few apps have this “search engine and rating” topic covered. As far as I know Apple Maps uses Yelp as backend and Google Maps it’s own solution. AFAIK the others do simply not support community based annotations. Only addition or moderation on the groundlaying openstreetmap data.
If I need to search for a location and it’s opening times, I have no good substitute, yet.

My lemmy interaction was quite limited up until today.
Some time ago, when the first reddit migration happend, I took over a stale community. It faded and there was nothing to moderate, write or comment. Also most communities I’m subscribed to, do not produced so much relevant content. I fell back to reddit.

Just edited my post.
feddit.org is a nice community. Never had so much interaction on other servers. Basically I had a great first day at school.
We ain’t talking about reasonable people here, are we?
