Because I’m used to noscript, I’ve tried using uBlock in stricter than default settings but found it hard to get into their flag system.
I do not trust 1st party by default in noscript and am pleasantly surprised anytime a site works without js.

I’m probably slow enough to not notice, or maybe the site is already cached when I’m done with noscript.

Most comms are focused on a subject, I’m not aware of any /c/lonely/.
I know that beehaw has a comm for random chat, but you can’t reach [email protected] from lemmy.world.lemmy.one also has one it seems

uBlock Origin is the must have.
Personally I also use Dark Reader, NoScript, View Page Source and User-Agent Switcher.
I find that disabling the youtube app and run youtube.com in Firefox (or whatever fork you prefer, I’m using Fennec) with uBlock Origin active gives the best experience in Android.
edit: For the few times I browse reddit I use https://old.reddit.com/ in Fennec and have used the element picker in uBlock Origin to remove most of the page bloat.

For anyone trying to subscribe, if the server returns that it cannot find the community then you need to go to your servers community list and search for:
https://piefed.social/c/stardewvalley
Now your server should fetch it and allow you to subscribe. Seeing the old posts may take a while longer.
Skipping the smart in TV and connecting my own box on a HDMI was a godsend. My current TV has never had network connectivity.
Cheers for the links!

I feel like it’s hard to make it easier then they’ve already made it:
https://support.google.com/googleplay/answer/1075738?hl=en#zippy=%2Cfor-family-members-who-manage-their-own-accountsAll it requires is knowing how to read and follow step by step instructions and the parents are in control.
In contrast all the control and surveillance systems being introduced as child protection will end up being used outside their first promised scope.
While “First they came for the porn” (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_they_came) sounds silly, if they can ban or control access to sites on a device level then what will they ban next?
Quite many right wing political groups would eye the lgbtq+ movement and they’d probably introduce that as “for the kids” too.

I honestly feel that this falls into parental responsibility. Both Android and iPhone comes with parental controls and the same is true for browsers on computers.
Android example:
iPhone example:
It’s a search away to find step-by-step guides for this stuff, so you don’t even need to know how to do it yourself.
Ah, I just use the default lemmy webui, if you’ve fallen for an alternative then I understand moving is hard. :)
I don’t feel apart because I use another instance though, just that I strengthen the resilience of lemmy by using a smaller instance.
My lemmy.world account is a few days you ger than yours.
