Are doing like a lottery selection or some time of raffle for this?

As an American, I feel so embarrassed that this really was our one chance to be the “good guys”. You know, the people we claimed to be during and after WWII. We could have flooded Ukraine with all the weapons they could hold and all the jets they could fly but we didn’t and now we’re doing even less. I really hope Europe takes up the mantel on this one.

Same. I’m in the Seattle area and summer is incredible…skies are clear temps are mostly super comfortable except for like 2 weeks when I need a fan.

I still haven’t owned a car new enough to have the start/stop feature so it’s helpful reading these comments about the experiences with it. One day (after the wheels fall off my car), I’ll keep this in mind while test driving vehicles.

I never had that feature but I just rented a Volvo Hybrid for a week for a road trip and I’m pretty sure it had the feature. Because it’s hybrid, the gas engine turned off but I never really noticed because the electric engine would start you off while the gas engine did its thing. The result was a pretty seamless experience. I couldn’t really tell when the gas engine was off or on in city driving. There may be better options out there as this is the only one I’ve driven but that was super smooth. I heard when it’s gas only that the experience can feel “lurchy”.

Sorry to hear this is happening to you. I went through something similar as I graduated with a CS degree in the middle of the dotcom burst. I ended up having to move from NY to AZ (USA) to find a job. It was terrible and I have so much sympathy to anyone going through that now. Wish I had a solution for you, I really do. I sent out crazy amounts of resumes and applications. About the only thing I can think of is to keep applying.

About once a year I do something like $25. It’s about the time of year I do my NPR donation and anything else I have been procrastinating.

Pretty awesome and they have crazy features for camping like a slide out cooking top. I like the interiors a lot. Owned quite a few Volvos because I liked their interiors as they feel really quality (to me) and just make me happy to sit in and I got that same feel for Rivian. I focus on interior because that’s where I sit and I think of the Rivian interior as a mix of Volvo and Land Rover. I do a lot of camping and this would be the vehicle for that…you get basically a remote generator anywhere you go.

I’m due for a new vehicle and likely would have just got a model X if Musk wasn’t Musk. So, I’m at least one lost sale. Likely going Rivian.

As an American, I would recommend that folk reconsider travel to the US during the current administration. There are no longer checks and balances and it’s a very dangerous place at the moment. They’re removing all accountability for the border patrol and any immigration adjacent services so they can now do whatever they want. You’re at the complete mercy of the immigration service and they have full latitude to do whatever they want (legal or illegal) as the threat of repercussions have been removed. Be safe out there.

I am absolutely disgusted at Trump. I thought his past actions had set the bar low enough to not surprise me anymore but damn, they hit rock bottom and started digging.

I feel like it’s Bernie rolling solo as our last hope. Seriously, what is everyone else doing? Bernie is on YouTube and out giving speeches. Where are the other politicians???

The problem is that she screwed rich people over. If she stuck with just screwing over everyone else she would have been fine.

Trump spent his entire campaign saying he was going to do crazy and stupid shit. He highlighted that he wanted the DOE shutdown. This is what the country voted for. I am astonished and disappointed but the truth is that the majority of Americans that voted were too dumb to care (best case) or possibly just really into fascism (possible case).

This is the thought that I’ve been trying to articulate. Those that are decent people aren’t good because they are Americans but in spite of being American.

I think this country has just shown who it really is. One could say we were conned in 2016 but now everyone knows who he is and still voted for him. This is who we are apparently.

It got 57% of the vote…so 57% people are decidedly pro choice but still voted against Harris for an anti choice candidate.
