Hello Mondo
And named after, I think, Stranger In a Strange Land,
Heinlein also had some interesting AI and immortal human themes in his works.
I don’t think it’s Homelander’s actions so much as Kripke saying in interviews that he and the writers are trying to be as obvious as possible that Homelander is the bad guy and based on Trump. And following up by saying if people think Homelander and his followers are role models then those people are not the fans they want.
I’m just seeing Gallagher smashing watermelons when they hit a pothole
My husband isn’t on Lemmy, lol. I was just pointing out that my house has a similar light dynamic as this guy’s. And that sometimes it’s the wife with the light sensitivity. And yes, I know I’m weird for it compared to other people. :)
Klaatu Berada N… necktie? nectar?
I’m the wife and I’m like you. I will stand in the dark and wait for my eyes to adjust rather than turn on a light.
We have fairy lights and red LED string lights for the high traffic areas to dissuade hubby from flipping on the overhead.
Low light motion sensor nightlights for a couple spots so that we don’t step on a cat on the way to the bathroom.
The kitchen lights are dimmable, so we can go bright when needed to cook, and dim if just searching for a snack.
I love it. He has given in and adjusted. I find it calm and cozy.
Love this! Did you start out on the Fediverse or did you start on another and then move to your own?
I ask because I’ve been considering hosting my own for the family. I already have a server.
The thing holding me back is I’ve gotten my Mastodon and Lemmy accounts really nice with content and it’s daunting to think of moving/remaking accounts.
In my city/county, you get a free card if you can prove you live here (show something with your address) Our system will also do fundraisers to supplement the budget from taxes. We almost lost some libraries a gew years ago, but voters remade the local government and they are safer now.
I wish I had a clever Linux joke response.
But, no joke, what is it like to ride one? I imagine them somewhere between smooth comfort and speed demons.
She is an incredibly prolific songwriter for other people as well. There’s a decent chance you like a song she wrote that is performed by someone else - if that makes you feel any better about your sacrilege (smiley face emoji)
I heard her tell a story about how she entered a Dolly Parton drag competition on a whim. She was delighted that she lost!
As I was reading, I had to check that this wasn’t The Onion writers, the tone is so spot on.
Is this from a satire site I don’t know about?
The new SEO model
I was never really into twitter, but I like Mastodon a lot. It takes some time to find people to follow (but can be fun to do in the micro breaks)
My Mastodon feed is pretty active now with stuff I’m interested in. If you were on reddit to keep up with the news, that’s doable on Mastodon.
What are some of the niche communities you are missing? Maybe they are here just harder to find?
If you like books, maybe switch to short stories? I found when I didn’t have time for novels, they were great alternative. Especially stuff like Neil Gaiman or collections of authors. Or like NG’s Norse Mythology or Stephen Fry’s Mythos. I listened to them on audio though because they are great story tellers and if I lost track it was easy to start the story over.
Majestic! I love dogs.
That’s pretty much what I do during. I’m slow anyway, so sometimes have to walk to get slow enough for relief. Once they start getting tight, it happens quicker each time I speed up. It’s one of those things where I’m not sure if I’m just being a wimp, or should just keep slowly building up time.
The last year I was running regularly I got diagnosed with exercise induced asthma. So I had gone years where my breathing and side stitches always got to me first. My legs were in decent shape because they had a very slow progression.
I did 3 half marathons in 4 years thinking I’d never be in good enough shape to talk and breathe. Now I can breathe for long enough to really feel it in my legs. It’s a new experience
That sounds amazing! Everything outside is dusted in yellow pollen, so I’ve been treadmilling it with my cat supervising. How big is your dog? Does he normally run with you on leash?
I am over 50 and getting back into running after a few years of not. My calves are so tight during after just a few minutes. When I stop, they are back to normal after an hour or so and not sore the next day.
I’m doing my best to avoid injury, and so I’ve been hesitant to run through it. Maybe I should?
On the plus side, I’m getting the need to run jitters when it’s been than a day since the last run. So that’s been nice to rediscover!
