I do agree with your broader point that Mastodon has become synonymous with fediverse microblogging, which again is what most people associate with the fediverse, period.

TBF, Mastodon was the same when I joined. I just muted all mention of “mastodon” + variations, Bob’s your uncle. Navel gazing meta discourse is the least exciting updates on any platform.

It is still funny to visit random egg profiles on there and see they only tooted once, two years ago, saying “so this is mastodon, wonder how this works” and then never again.

I’m not criticising my right to put in extra work to make promising efforts available on platforms that do not track users; I criticise the fact that the developers didn’t do this in the first place.

Since you’re into Lower Decks, I dare you to just follow the episode annotations and canon connection published here and use those as your guide to Star Trek. Every episode of LDS is so full of references to older episodes across different series, that might be a fun way to experience the canon 🙂

Agreed. I watch SNW when new episodes air, but it’s the one Trek show I’m never tempted to rewatch. It’s basically overengineered fan fiction.

There are several UI translation projects, one is Transifex. There is also Crowdin, but I see they have started using “AI” translations as well…

Generally, both mobile and web apps that are interested in volunteer translators will have a link to their preferred platform in their source code repository.
