  • H2 makes the best long term electrical storage, because not only is it more efficient than other cheap alternatives, it can be even more efficient with heat use, and it is economically transportable/exportable and so is not capped by utilization/capacity constraints.

    heat storage is extremely useful for complementing winter solar in low winter sun places. Including at small scale. Hydronic floor heating is most efficient use of heat. Heat pumps can very efficiently gain 30C of temperature gain. Sand and construction waste box with water pipes, and heat resistors, flowing through it, can store heat well above 100C that water doesn’t ineffienctly. 2000 liters of just water is sufficient in most locations with a fireplace or EV backup, but sand/dirt/gypsum of 500L to 1000L significantly boosts resilence and heat capacity.



  • Mines like datacenters can be in remote low land value areas that have a lot of room for solar, which without grid connections is even cheaper than grid connected energy, and cheaper power than transporting fuel. Surrounding land, certainly not usable for civilization. Most uranium mines in the world have a proper exclusion zone that allows more solar energy than the energy value of the uranium inside the mine.

    After mine’s life, power availability means a cleaned up side does have civilization/land value. It also makes it attractive for eventual grid connection to rest of continent, or just “microgrid” short transmission to touristier locations. Solar development of a mining area not only offers cheapest mining operations, it creates future land value appreciation, and power supply revenues. Both significantly improving economics of a mining project.

    There is a mild secessionist movement in CA. People of all ethnicities in the city can dissaprove of the oppression taking place. Pre-2022, ask in Donbas was just autonomy from nazis shelling it relatively indiscriminantly. CA even if it were to ask for military help from Mexico or China, wouldn’t have as first choice to join as one of their provinces. In both cases, independence is more about humanist self determination rather than ethnic loyalties even if the fascist oppression is centered on extermination of ethnic/liberal “sub humans”







  • At the same time, the hope is that Russian society would come out en masse against Russian President Putin and dispose of him from power.

    Theory that Russia will collapse relies on hoping that Russians don’t understand the existential threat of NATO expansion, and NATO hatred of them, AND all Russian power brokers will start believing NATO disinformation, AND risk of losing war will motivate Russians to surrender to Ukraine/NATO.

    Instead, any Russian regime change is likely to be caused by Putin weakness and failure to nuke German and UK US military bases. Or otherwise perception of insufficient aggression/speed of progress.


  • Delta wing designs will harry a lot of H2. It is suitable for LH2. Carbon fibre reinforced wing tanks. Efficiency is not as bad as other storage processes. Exportable/transportable fuel has huge advantages in monetizing surplus renewables.

    Self-vapourising fuel is a major crash issue.

    I don’t know about this. Vaporization does create a cooling effect, and having some battery can increase takeoff power and be charged during flight. Venting pressure release is an easy option.


  • While prioritizing civilization terrorism is always the first resort, a railway could outlast dead ender energy compared to a pipeline. Quicker/cheaper and able to transport anything of use across the country and to ports for export. New northern routes can mitigate the danger of accidents, and access cheap land that eventually increases population. Expanding Thunder Bay ports for more St Lawrence shipping, and Canadian built ships is a lot of steel use too. Would free up passenger rail traffic in windsor-Quebec corridor.



  • Solar power per acre will drive a Model Y 200 times further than ethanol will drive at 30mpg. And you can grow crops underneath/around solar. Corn ethanol, and other biofuels, are greenwashing that with fertilizers can emit as much as gasoline.

    E-fuels are different. Take that 200 higher energy/range, and making H2 through electrolysis, makes a fuel that can get 100 times the range of ethanol. Can further chemically process that H2 to make gasoline or kerosene, and it is still green if the CO2 input is sourced from the air. H2 is best because it’s the cheapest green fuel, but also because a fuel cell is 2x+ more efficient than an engine. Aviation especially has the most to gain, as H2 is highest energy density by weight fuel, and a typical plane costs 100x more in fuel over its lifetime than its purchase price.
