  • Get out! I was thinking lately that I wish they would (re)release all of their games again so I can finally play the damn game with the bird-dog. A long time ago, a friend showed me a trailer for that game before it came out. I missed it, and maybe with them releasing a new game they might consider putting the old ones up for funding? I don’t care how awful the controls or the ai is, their games blow my mind, just like you said =)! Thanks for the heads up! I wonder if it’ll end up being an Playstation exclusive, or if they’ll open the channels up a bit more?

  • ooo, this is a good read. It’s got my brain firing way too late in the night. Yawn! This person has to let their wifey migrate even if it’s an uphill battle. Cause a) she wants to and b) she is clearly open to doing her own research which is like…Linux 101. I get what’s going on here though, it’s like a call to action for developers as a whole to be more aware of accessibility needs. I get it. I see the hell that they’ve been through, and all the duct-tape they need in order to get a semi-functional system to work for them. To be honest most legally blind folks I have met (and know what systems they’re using) tend to use windows. It’s really good for accessibility and you can blow everything up 700xs to make things much more readable. I get not agreeing with their practices as they seem to be constantly jumping off the rails of what I myself would be comfortable using. I think having something you can use at all trumps having nothing you can use because you’re not the “intended” user. I think it kind of shows how accessibility tends to come with finances and really the only place I have ever seen it baked in that was made for the people is via the Government (and even then, that was more of a state-based thing over a federal setup). People will for sure grumble down on me saying something about this, but this might be a point where AI could help? I’m not sure, but it might be able to fill the gap well enough that someone can string things together to frankenstein better support or squash some usability bugs. Idk. I feel this person’s frustrations, I just wish I had a better idea for solutions if they want to stick on Linux. Lord knows what is going on the Mac side, because I find their software heinously unfriendly, but I don’t really use it much because of that.

  • I saw one other Polygon writer who found interesting indies trying to rally support to stay independent and financially well and I don’t think they reached what they wanted. It actually seems really hard to stay financially flushed without selling your soul or having a service that a lot of people truly want to use. It stinks. Of course, this is just my observations, I don’t actually know and you can always give your grant-writing skills some practice to get financial support.

  • I tried to give Until Dawn a go. I love horror movies, but I just don’t know. It didn’t speak to me. I don’t know if there’s one video game movie I have ever liked outside of Resident Evil…actually that’s a lie. I loved that OG Mario Bros movie that everyone seems to hate. That movie was the shit! Same thing for live action flicks from anime/manga too. Cause I am a crack head for Kuragehime (Princess Jellyfish) and no matter how solid they made that movie I just couldn’t get behind it.

  • I mean, I am all for failure as a whole. Cause it really is true what they say about the growth being in the action of failure. I also like tactics, but I like to have the space to think on the tactics I am enduring. I think it’s cool that a game introduced that in a very action-oriented way. There seems to be a lot of creativity in the creatures as well, which I like. I will say as I get older my reaction time has lessened even worse than I’d say it originally was. I never played shooters or anything, although I had friends go ham on them. I think perhaps it might be an incongruity with what I want out of a game with swords x boss battles. The game I think of when I think of big papa boss battles is Shadow of the Colossus. Cause it’s pretty much the only one I have ever played like that. I feel the game though, while exciting, is actually pretty slowly paced. Which makes it more accessible to me. Most “sword” games though, I want to play like a dumb-dumb. I wanna hack, slash, and feel all powerful. Smash everything in sight (Dynasty Warriors). I think the two clashing might also be making it difficult for me to pick it up.

But I guess the third thing is that pretty much any time I have grabbed a game that is hyper popular nowadays I don’t really seem to like it much. That might be an age thing too, idk. Might be a lot of things, but I generally think I might not be the audience for most AAA games. In fact, I know I am not =P!

  • Yeah, this is how I feel sort of in general. I think as I get older. If I am not having fun, it doesn’t really seem worth the venture. No matter how pretty something is, or how good everyone says something is. I also think often a lot of these games aren’t really designed with a player like me in mind. Which is fine, cause I suppose I am a minority in gaming. I just figured if someone could make a Soulslike that mobile gamers could play (easy enough to adapt) they’d make a mint.

  • I love Yahtzee and have since a hundred years back when a friend introduced me to him via…Amnesia or something like that (then had me play his bomb ass adventure game - the first one I ever played). I am so thankful that he posted a video on this. Cause these modern games going hard on timing based hyper-tough combat have pretty much made the inaccessible to me. Everyone has gone gaga over these modern souls-like games. I just don’t think I have the brain for quick responsive reactions. That’s okay, cause not every game is made for everyone. I do however love bigguns, body horror and phantasms. I have seen the majestic and creepy things in games like Elden Ring, and would love to smash the hey out of them. I just don’t think there’s a chance I could ever “get gud” enough to play to the expected parameters of this type of game when I can’t even do quick time events right. First mil to the person who can bring Soulslikes to the common man! Until then, I’ll play my turn-based clicky games with a dumb smile.

  • This lady is a real scooch. It’s crazy, because so many people are willing to look past her absolute stankiness. People love the IP she made, and I don’t really think it’s going anywhere. I went to a museum recently and saw some Harry Potter stuff in it (no lie). I think ultimately she kind of got/gets people in like McDonalds used to. Get em young, and get em for life. When I was a kid, a nice dinner or treat was going to Mickey Dees. It took some crazy training to get out of that, and a part of it was learning what real ass food is. Idk what do you do in this situation. Just kinda like…not support white supremacy? Idk. Shit. Hate oppression? Idk. I think life is really complicated, and people use her media to escape. So when you try and take away someone’s escape with something depressing it makes it a hard trade off. I am pretty thankful that I never drank this kool aid. I thought the movies were pretty, but they weren’t really my thing. I still haven’t seen all but one, and it was because I was supporting a friend who wanted to go see it. I also only ever read one book, and it was because my sibby had it laying around and I wanted to get what all the fuss was about. I still don’t get it on a mental level personally but I do understand why it’s hard for people to let it go. In fact, even the other day someone I love told me about watching the game and this new series coming out and how they were all excited about it. I just kind of shrugged it off in my head, because I am not here to tell anyone how to live. I just you know - told them that was cool and moved on with our conversation.

I will say that rich people are being real fuck faces lately. I mean they always were kind of fuck faces, but I think there was a subset trying not to be for a while there. There was an “appeal to the common man” kind of thing going on. Some humanist stuff. Looks like we’ve got some ivory tower, goblet of wine villainy everywhere we look nowadays. So that sucks. I say just you know - keep your head on, take care of who you can (esp. yourself cause…you know - you gotta) and make some art. Speak some words, but don’t shit on people who don’t change cause it takes a lot *to change people. Especially in a system as psychologically manipulative as the one we live in. Shrugs.

  • No worries, I am a fucking weirdo like - super cereal. I’m mixed, and I grew up in a predominantly black area without cable or anything. The TV was typically occupied by the adults so it was like a pretty hard thing to get a whack at. I was for sure alive, I just am really shit with a combination of cultural references and names in general. Big apologies on my behalf, cause you know - you can “google” everything but I also figured like - we could just you know - talk like people do hahaha! I think just looking everything kind of ruins the human experience in a way. I mean it’s fun, and fine. It’s something that I do a lot of. I just figured if you had something nifty to share I would readily take a look at it (and I am sure lots of others would too =)!)

I’ll just glance at his Youtube instead, cause I think makers are the bee’s knees and they’re pretty fun to have a watch over. Heads up on the glue gun, grab a “nice one” doesn’t have to be the best, but don’t grab bottom of the barrel. We did that cause we needed one for a mini project over here. At the time we had just moved and money was tight. We figured just grab the cheap one, it’ll be no problem. That thing was awful. It was labeled as “high heat” but that sucker melted glue at a glacial rate. I mean it was just painful. I think it probably needed a 10 on, 15 off rule or something because it ended up burning out too. If I grabbed another I’d go for like…idk - one that fluctuates temperatures, has a stand, and is way less of a fire hazard. I did think, man these things are nifty though while using them and understood while all the craft folks go bananas for them.

Big thanks, and super no worries.

  • I am making a mental note on this. I once lived in a place where getting dirt was so nearly impossible, and compost seemingly was the only way to produce more outside of just importing it. I have always found this kind of stuff so interesting. I plan on living in the middle of nowhere again at some point soon, and need to put this somewhere in the depths of my brain-bin for future reference. Thank you for not only sharing, but also providing awesome links. I am going to scour them. Cheers and keep being awesome =)!

Hey there, took a look at all of these resources. I had no clue that cutter existed, but it looks quite lovely. Once upon a life ago I used to use box cutters to hand cut a lot of precision things. I still take immense joy from doing so, and have pretty much been cannibalizing everything with an x-acto. I gotta share this guy and see if maybe it’ll be a good fit for our household now or later. On the shroomies, looks like you got a good grow with just the boiled cardboard. Gotta love fresh oyster mushrooms =)

Also I think I gotta make one of those finger-friendly cutters because it’s just to cute and tinker-y not to. Thanks again for the share!
