use gimp for over a decade to edit all manner of things, solve all manner of problems quickly and efficiently, but in public, at any given moment…

Not equivalent, it’s more for drawing than image editing.
Also, it doesn’t even have the green pepper brush.

Who needs a circle tool when you can just google " <color> circle no background transparent"
It works pretty well for image editing as well, at least the type I do. I’ve started using it mainly for that instead of GIMP (mainly because GIMP’s Mac version doesn’t work nearly as well as on Linux and I want to use both)
The lack of green pepper brush is a big downside though.
