A study by the Bertelsmann Foundation, published on Friday, confirms a trend that predates October 7. Only 36% of respondents today express a positive opinion of Israel, which is 10 points less than in 2021.
Friedrich Merz, made unequivocal statements. “It must be very clear again that Germany is not in a gray area, but that it stands very clearly alongside Israel,” he warned during a speech at the Körber Foundation on January 23. He also promised to “put an end to this more or less effective embargo on arms exports to Israel” and deemed it “inconceivable” to prevent "an Israeli prime minister from visiting Germany or elsewhere in Europe
What Fritz doesn’t understand is that you can be very much in favor of the existence of the state of Israel, without supporting the current genocidal Israeli government. That one can be very much in favor of jewish life and culture all over the world, but support a two-state solution. That one can agree that Israel is an apartheid-state and still want to preserve it, only differently. That one can absolutely blame HAMAS for their violence and terrorism and at the same time support palestinian autonomy.
Drag believes it’s possible as you say, but drag doesn’t think it should be done. Jewish and Muslim Palestinians lived in peace together under one flag before the Nakba. The existence of Israel has torn neighbour from neighbour and parent from child. It’s bad.
If the genocidal elements of the Israeli government were overthrown, then the peaceful Jewish politicians should be seeking reconciliation with their Palestinian siblings. The focus should be on opening the borders and democratising all of Palestine’s land under a single flag of peace.
Israel and Hamas would ideally be making deals to see the deradicalisation of both governments to prepare for reunion.
What Fritz doesn’t understand is that you can be very much in favor of the existence of the state of Israel, without supporting the current genocidal Israeli government.
Okay this one is… Well, it’s not impossible, but it’s at least a little self-contradictory. You can’t accept a Jewish state in Palestine without being okay with some level of apartheid; that’s how you keep the Jewish state a Jewish state and not just a state with a big number of Jews. Artificially drawn borders and tyranny of the majority are kind of the name of the game here.
Being for the state of Israel and not having a genocide, pretty much just means Israel leaves Gaza and the West Bank and stops shooting at Arabs for no reason(and yes defending oneself is a reason, if that happens). The rest is just having a nation state and Israel is not a fully 100% Jewish state right now, as it has a large Arab minority.
Apartheid is not genocide, as it does not try to destroy the group. It is still a crime though.

A large Arab minority that they systematically oppress and exploit. Palestinians in Israel are closer to black people in America than Jews under Nazi Germany, but they’re still very much a victim of Israel’s Apartheid regime, mostly de facto but sometimes also de jure. Now I’m not saying a two-state solution is unworkable (though I do think it’s unoptimal and also unlikely), but Israel’s government and society would need to be remade from the ground up, not left as it is.
Apartheid is not genocide, as it does not try to destroy the group.
True, but as the last few years have clearly shown in Israel, America and Europe, you can’t stand on the cliff of faacism and hope you don’t fall in; either you pull back in time or you’ll fall right in. Start with a state that explicitly favors Jews over Palestinians and you’re bound to end up with some form of fascism over the long term.
Apartheid is genocide but slower.
Now I’m not saying a two-state solution is unworkable (though I do think it’s unoptimal and also unlikely)
The borders Israel has with actual proper states are actually relativly secure for the last decades. Besides Lebanon that is and even there the problem is not the Lebanese government. All of those countries hate Israel and it still works. Something like that is not ideal, but imho the most realistic way to end the conflict.
but Israel’s government and society would need to be remade from the ground up, not left as it is.
Israel in theory gives Arabic citizens the same rights as Jewish citizens. They need to let Arabs in the higher ranks of power and also need to fight racism. Unfortunatly with Israel being attacked by Arabs on a regular bases, hatred can not be easily fixed. I honestly believe a proper peace deal is needed and the only realistic way to get that is to have a two state solution.

Israel has been occupying land in Syria since last December, so not quite, but also consider: These borders are stable because they’re with large states that are willing and capable of fighting back if they’re attacked. Egypt and Syria forced through this paradigm shift with the October war.
Besides Lebanon that is and even there the problem is not the Lebanese government.
The problem is not with the Lebanese government because the Lebanese government doesn’t do shit when their territorial integrity is violated. Remember that it was Hezbollah and other militias, not the Lebanese government, who fought Israel until it left Lebanon in 2000.
Israel in theory gives Arabic citizens the same rights as Jewish citizens.
Yes, but only in theory. Israeli discrimination against their Palestinians citizens is a lot less straightforward than what they do in Gaza and the West Bank, but iit’s a thing. The short of it is:
Heribert Adam and Kogila Moodley wrote in 2006 that Israeli Palestinians are “restricted to second-class citizen status when another ethnic group monopolizes state power” because of legal prohibitions on access to land, as well as the unequal allocation of civil service positions and per capita expenditure on educations between “dominant and minority citizens”.
There’s also the Bedouin villages thing.
Unfortunatly with Israel being attacked by Arabs on a regular bases, hatred can not be easily fixed.
Please don’t legitimize Israel’s narrative that it’s always being unfairly attacked by evil Arabs. All attacks against Israel are blowback from its own reign of terror and ethnic cleansing over Palestinians. Israel is attacked by Arabs on a regular basis because it attacks Arabs on a regular basis, and they’re dealing out much more violence than they’re getting dealt in return.
I honestly believe a proper peace deal is needed and the only realistic way to get that is to have a two state solution.
I mean the one-state solution exists, but apparently rule 4 prevents me from talking about that around here so just look it up. In the case of a two-state solution, however, a lot of radical reform is going to be necessary on the Israeli side. Classic offenders like the Jewish National Fund obviously need to go, and a lot of systemic racism and legal and practical double standards will have to go. Againz a two-state solution is possible, but it cannot and must not leave Israel in its present state.
Israel should also return all the land that was stolen since 1948
“The far-right party AfD and some conservatives have partly succeeded in making anti-Semitism an issue for others,” he said. “When you blur the line between criticism of Israel and anti-Semitism, you avoid talking about far-right anti-Semitism, which is, in my opinion, the crux of the problem, if one believes the incidents reported by the Central Council of Jews in Germany.” He acknowledged the existence of anti-Semitism in certain Muslim circles in Germany, “but no one dares to talk about it for fear of being instrumentalized.” The polarization is such that the conflict in Israel is “actually a projection of the question of immigrant integration.”
This raises a key aspect of the insanity of it. pro-Israeli lobby groups have been pushing this narrative of “imported antisemitism” together with the far right. Netanyahu recently invited many Fascists from Europe and the German AfD is one of the loudest supporter for Israel in Germany with the other parties often following the AfD. This mounted to two recent resolutions to “combat antisemitism” by the federal parliament that was jointly passed by AfD, CDU/CSU, SPD, FDP and Greens. The first resolution gave an example of “Antisemitism” in the Berlinale 2024 where the Israeli and Palestinian Directors of the documentary “No other Land” criticised Israel as an Apartheid regime. The resolution however did not mention the terror attack in Halle where a German neonazi tried to storm a synagogue and murder Jews. Instead the nazi went to a nearby kebab place and murdered two people after he failed to enter the synagogue. This example shows that Jews and Muslims are interchangeable as opportunistic targets of nazi terror.
The AfD fascists are instrumentalizing the alleged fight against Antisemitism for racist and authoritarian policies while also sporting the main source of Antisemitism in Germany in the shape of neonazis. Most of the other parties in parliament play this game instead of challenging it and pro-Israeli lobby groups are joining in on it.
At the end of this everybody looses including Jewish Germans and other Jewish people living in Germany.

Yeah our politicians and media will still bend over backwards to avoid offending the 36% nationalists. But at least the left wing party Die Linke recently admitted they regret being neutral on some issues, so there’s hope!
Fotzen Fritze doesn’t give a damn about the fricking ICJ issued Warrant for Benny for crimes against humanity. What a second rate embarrassment he is.
Here’s hoping this trend continues.
