Apologies if this has been asked before; I didn’t see it among recent posts and I like to hear everyone’s hot takes.

I think the element of danger in heterosexual female sexuality is a thing, but I also don’t think it’s as big of a cause for women’s general preference for…. Choosiness? As you may think.

Every woman I’ve ever known that’s decided to experiment with other women has told me how confused and frustrated they are at how difficult it is to find another woman to fuck.

Like. If danger was the only reason, either with physical safety or stds or pregnancy, you’d expect to see the lesbian community as slutty as the gay male community. And it just…. Isn’t.

But that’s assuming this is solely a man/woman issue and not an issue of cultural learning. It’s not just that women are physically smaller than men and thus there is a real potential biological danger, it’s that there is a culture that has been prescribed to these women with deep roots woven widely across society. When a woman decides to start having sex with other women, she doesn’t suddenly walk away from all that cultural learning; that baggage comes with her. So even if it was always male voices screaming words like “slut” and “whore,” those words are still ingrained in her psyche even as she turns her attention toward other women.

Imo, there’s a lot more nuance to the topic, and a big part of the reason why gay men frequently have more sex than gay women has a lot more to do with cultural differences regarding agency and reputation than anything intrinsic to our biology.

        Sure.

I think evolution likely plays a bigger role than culture here imo. Though. I have fuck all to back that up.

From a strictly biological sense pregnancy is risky and millions of years of evolution doesn’t go away simply because one rationally knows they can’t get pregnant or because they like girls.
